Name (aka Handle): Deck-It Darkleer

How old are you?: 17 (18 in November)

Which characters do you play in SSF2? Why do you play these characters? (Note: do not list characters that are not currently in the game):
ZELDA: My waifu. She hits hard, she hits fast, she's got a godlike recovery, and dat Side air is absolutely amazing. Her special moves are all useful, particularly her USpecial and her SSpecial.
CHIBI ROBO: I'll admit, I picked this character because I have a nickname of Chibi and this guy is my namesake. However, after playing a couple of matches I came to love him even more. Catching projectiles, a great Side special, a decent Neutral special, good smashes, a great grab range, and a decent spike and recovery. What's not to love?
MARIO: I know in my signature it says I main Black Mage (I need to change that), but over time I've been using Mario more and more. 0.9b pretty much sealed the deal on it. I like Mario because he has an answer to everything, albiet with varying effectiveness. Sure there are some who have options better than Mario but Mario has a bit of everything.

How much experience do you have with official Smash titles? (SSB64, Melee, Brawl. Include in this answer which characters you play/played.):
I've played a lot of every smash game, although none at tournament level. Being in the more country parts of North Carolina means that's not really an option. HOWEVER, me and my friends have played a lot of Smash together, from 64 to Brawl, and have even played by semi-competitive rules as well as party rules.

Have you ever attended any Smash tournaments? If so, give some details about the tournament (number of participants, which games, etc). How well did you place?
I have not been to any tournaments, unfortunately. (Hope to fix that soon!)

When did you start playing SSF2?
Since .4b, IIRC

What is your favorite stage in SSF2? Explain.
Clock Town with hazards turned off. It's just so simplistic yet so nice at the same time, plus the 0.9b version is outstanding in comparison to the 0.9a version.
I would also throw Twilight Town in there. Wallbounces for nice combos, good music (as with Clock Town), simplistic design and a pretty background.

Who, in your opinion, should be placed first on the SSF2 tier list? Under competitive settings why would this character perform on a higher level than all others?
It's hard to say, but I would say Goku. Even with the recent Kamehameha Wave nerf, he still hits like a friggin truck and moves super quick. He's got hardcore combo potential. Not to mention Kaio-Ken mode and his glide. Hell, if he's not S tier, he'd be high A.

Who, in your opinion, should be placed last on the SSF2 tier list? Under competitive settings why would this character perform on a lower level than all others?
I would say Peach, honestly. She doesn't seem like she offers a lot when compaired to the other characters rather than (random) item spawning.

If you could make only one change to SSF2 as it currently is, what would it be and why?
Honestly, I like it how it currently is. It's not perfect, but it's the best version so far. So I wouldn't change anything, aside from adding a character.

What is your view on items in competitive play?
Depends on the tournament. Normally I'd say keep them out but I often think a tournament with Final Smashes and/or a limited item pool would be fun.

Do you have or can you download Skype? You don't need a mic or webcam.
I already have Skype and a mic. Add chibi.xenmas (not xenmas.chibi, thats... a long story)

Why do you want to join the Smash Flash Back Room? What will you contribute? Why are you an exceptional applicant? Be as detailed as possible.
I want to join the Smash Flash Back Room to learn, to put it simply. I am not the best player, nor do I know the most, but I am willing to learn and take the information to form my own opinions with. I will contribute with what I already know and a good attitude about things. I will help as much as I can with matters on the game, and will be willing to admit my mistakes if I have made them. I like to think that I can learn quickly and that I'm a pleasant person.

Additional information (Include in this section anything relevant to your application. This could include links to videos of yourself playing.)
Unfortunately I cannot provide any videos at this time, however I am planning on making Gameplay videos soon.

You are playing a Best of 3 tournament set against a player who mains Chibi Robo. You have decided to use Zelda for the duration of the set.

For the first game, which stages do you strike? Which stages do you think your opponent would strike? Why?

Assuming you win the first game, which stages do you ban? Which stage would your opponent pick from the ones remaining? Why?

Assuming you lose the second game, which stages would your opponent ban? Which stage would you pick from those remaining?

Please use the stage list from last version while answering these questions.
stage list: show
Hazards off unless otherwise noted. Strike down to first stage from starters. Winner bans two stages, loser picks.

Starter
- FD/Nintendo 3DS (you can pick either one if it's your turn, but they can both be covered by a single ban or strike)
- BF
- Jungle Hijinx
- WarioWare
- Mirror Chamber
- Pokemon Stadium 3
- Tower of Salvation
- Yoshi's Story
- Dreamland
- Smashville
- Castle Siege

Counterpick
- Yoshi's Island
- Dracula's Castle
- Central Highway (Hazards on)
- Lunar Core

Everything else banned.

For the first match, I would start off with a Battlefield strike. Chibi Robo thrives on these sorts of stages; small with platforms. His entire moveset, save for a couple of moves, has a pretty long range, which means Zelda can't run from him on such a small stage. So I would strike this stage first.

For his strike, I'd say it would be FD/3DS. IMO, Zelda is in her element when she's on a flat, single platform stage, where she can stay out of reach of Chibi Robo and also combo without interruption.

My next strike would be WarioWare, Inc. It's Battlefield with a few different platforms, and a bit smaller, and I strike it for the same reasons.

I have reason to believe Chibi Robo would strike Smashville next. It's a small stage, true, but the one moving platform won't help Chibi Robo much with getting into range, and it's the only one.

My next strike would be Mirror Chamber. This is a nightmare stage for Zelda. The platform placement will stop any fireball pressuring that's not straight forward and basically leave Zelda without one of her more important tools.

I think it's a reasonable bet that Chibi's next strike would be Tower of Salvation. It's a simple, wide open stage with ways for Zelda to bow out when she needs to and space to do combos when she gets the chance.

I'd have to strike Dream Land next. It's smaller than Battlefield, with all it's platforms.

Chibi Robo would most likely ban Castle Siege. The first stage is an advantage for him, but the ones afterward would cause him more problems, whereas I would be more within my element.

My last strike would be Yoshi's Story, for the same reason as Battlefield and similar stages.

Robo's last strike would be Pokemon Stadium 3, of that I'm sure. Only 2 small platforms and a nice-sized main platform benefit Zelda more than Chibi Robo.

When I win the first match, I would probably ban Yoshi's Island and Central Highway. because of how problematic it is for Zelda. Chibi Robo might pick Battlefield because it's small, and with platforms, making it harder for me to react to Chibi's assault.

I'd imagine Chibi Robo would ban FD/3DS and Smashville, with both being the largest offenders to his downsides. And for a final stage I would pick Lunar Core. While it may prove to cause a problem or two, how large the stage is and how empty it is, bar the other platform on the right, will help me more than hinder me. Plus I'm more comfortable in that stage.

1. Discuss the Zelda vs. Goku matchup. Be sure to discuss every option available to each character and determine who wins the matchup (or if it is even). Also include a ratio (i.e. 50-50, 60-40, etc).
