The only Square characters that I could immediately see being in Smash (assuming that Square even wants one, and taking into account that I've never played the Dragon Warrior series) would be Black Mage, Cecil Harvey, or Terra Branford. Ordered by likeliness. However Chocobo and/or Mog would be wonderful Assist Trophies.

The only reason why people want Black Mage is probabaly because of SSF2. I think it's unlikely (even if he did appear alongside Mario in 2 sport games) that Black Mage will be added. Square is quite protective as far as their characters go.

Tbh, the only thing SSF2 was remind me that Black Mage was from the classic FF games which were famous, and BM is probably the most iconic maybe alongside Fighter. The main thing I have against Black Mage being added though is that it and Mega Man both have similar.. concepts, I guess. Mega Man and Black Mage both use multiple skills that are a lot different from each other where no two of their attacks are all that similar. I think the closest Mega Man's moves get to similar are the Flame Sword and his Flame Blast (or whatever it's called). Sure, Black Mage has a bunch of spells, but it'd still feel like it's trying to be a second Mega Man.

Maybe Alph will be a playable character for Flying and Rock Pikmin only, with also the Yellow, Red, and Blue also.
