mcleodgaming wants to keep this game professional. the three anime characters were added before that decision was made, so i doubt any more will be added.

Define "Professional" cause i don't think how many jump characters they make in this should determine how well this game is, they could make 4 more anime characters and if they are well made, then the game should not be called different if the quality hasn't gotten worse, that word has gotten less and less meaningful imo.

I think we all agree Luffy is getting into SSF2 at some point. Either officially or expansion wise and honestly I hope to not see any more anime characters beyond him. Especially since there are alot more actual video game characters who could fill a slot better.

Am I actually the only one rooting against the inclusion of anime characters. I understood Goku and Naruto as they are main stream characters that everyone knows, but not the others. Anime is just way different then the other video games represented in the game. If you add to many their will just be a divide between characters. If Luffy gets in because he's the "Fourth" then what ever I just don't want to many anime characters

Regarding Anime characters, the only one that will most likely get in as a Playable Character would be Luffy because he is heavily requested and he would complete the Shonen Four. Regarding other Anime characters, I hope characters like InuYasha, Sasuke, Vegeta, Natsu, and Sailor Moon become DLC.

Professional as in a desicion Nintendo might make if they wanted to add more third party characters.

Then they failed when they added characters nintendo didn't, i'm not asking for j-stars 2.0, i don't even give a damn about goku, naruto, or luffy but it's their choice to add characters, they are not nintendo and they can do what they want if they choose to, they haven't made any crappy characters and have done really well to make this for us, it's always annoying when i hear that "They need to be nintendo" bull. And for syther, currently one piece is the best selling manga right now, it's techicly the biggests of the main 4, so yeah that comment made little sense.

Yes but your average person has heard of Goku, a pretty good chance they have heard of Naruto to. Ichigo and Luffy are unknown to almost everyone that doesn't watch anime. The anime community might watch One Piece, but among the general population it is nealy unheard of.

Pretty sure in america at least, ichigo is almost as well known as naruto and goku, if were going by american popularity for anime characters getting in, then a lot more non jump anime characters would be in -_-

But SSF2 isn't catering to the general population. Like, totally, some 30 yo soccer mom is gonna play SSF2 and be like "Who are all these amine characters? Ichijoe? Narato? Gawku?"

Using the "not well known" argument isn't valid if you're referring to the general population. SSF2 is aimed at gamers, and most gamers watch anime. Most people on this very forum can tell you what a Luffy is.

I knew about Luffy(NOT One Piece) long before I became a gamer or an Anime Fan. I'm like 98% sure that there are others who know about him who aren't gamers or Anime fans.

Also, did anyone else see Gardevior in Pokken Tournament? I immediately thought of how cool she's be in SSF2.

While i love that pokemon i hate her mega evolution and the fairy type cause they really made it annoying.

I speculate new and old characters to make an appearance in SSF2. Ima just discuss about possibilities.
Retro characters = Start of videogames -> Super Smash Bros. (pre-release)
Middle age (Neither retro or newly.) = Super Smash Bros. (post-release) -> 2010-2011 (Before the Nintendo 3DS came out.)
Newly introduced/Present age. = 2011-present day. (Roster finaized during this time period. Confirmed by the devs since they do not take requests.)

Rosalina (& Luma?). I think since they removed Comet Observatory from Galaxy Tours, they'll revamp the stage without Rosalina on it. She wouldn't play like her Smash 4 counterpart, but similarly, also not having Luma in her moveset at all, (unless the devs were to decide to use Luma like in SSB4,) making her moveset unique in a way. I mean they could also go with Polari instead of Luma. I really speculate her because we need at least one unlockable Mario character that is not Daisy (not hating on her, I just don't see it happening.) Another possibility could be Geno, but he only made two appearances in total in the Mario series, disappearing after Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, so he could at least be an Assist Trophy like originally planned.
K. Rool. I would have preferred Gangplank Galleom as an unlockable stage alongside K. Rool, but the stage having Kremlings in the background and as hazards throwing cannon balls, I really hope we get K. Rool in this game. He would play uniquely with his many alter egos in his moveset. In case we don't get him as a playable character, he could always make up as a good boss to beat in game.
Ashley. I know it might be absurd having a character that's already in Crusade, but I feel like Ashley has more potential to offer. Also I still keep in mind this game needs more female support and that theory I thought about, that it's characters are going to be from the pre-Nintendo DS/Wii era. She was introduced in 2004 making her neither a retro or newly character, but a middle age character. Another characters that could make an appearance would be Jimmy T., Dr. Crygor, Kat & Ana, or even Mona, but these characters could make good assist trophies too.
Skull Kid. I want a new Zelda character that is not another Link. Young Link could also make a good roster add (with a made-over moveset of course,) but Skull Kid feels more to appeal the SSF2 style with tons of possibilities for a moveset, also making appearances through the series and being a popular newcomer choice by players.
Metroid rep. I'm not sure about this one, my bet would be either Ridley or Sylux. Could see it happen.
Pit. Make Pit come back, with a brand new moveset based around Uprising and it's Project M counterpart,and I'll be happily ever after.
Fire Emblem rep. This series needs a second playable character with a different moveset than the entire cast. I speculate Lyn in her Blade Lord/Awakening design, Anna the shop keeper who also made a playable appearance in Awakening (about time), or Tiki the manakete, another recurring character in the series.
Knuckles. Shadow. I just don't see why these can't make an appearance in his game. Silver as an Assist Trophy, but not them two? What? I could see Knuckles joining in Beta, and Shadow as an unlockable character when the full game releases. Also, all the Sonic reps need a resprite or a make over, they just don't match with the SSF2's style.
