I have followed all the instructions in the guide but it still doesn't work. I connect to people and it just stays at the Waiting Lobby. I port forwarded, I use ethernet, I don't do anything in the waiting lobby. Is there anything I can do?

Battle people that are closer to your location.
As for now, long distant matches tend to have rather noticeable flaws.

Distance doesn't seem to make a difference. I have two hardwired machines sitting next to each other. When we try to do an online battle the same thing happens. We get to the lobby, it says please wait but out of probably 10 tries it only actually worked once. One time it let one machine in while the other was still fighting the sandbag. I could move my character on my machine and watch it move on the other screen performing all of the actions for the buttons being pressed.
