Which characters do you play in SSF2? Why do you play these characters? (Note: do not list characters that are not currently in the game): I play with almost anyone. i simply love the chalenge of slowly mastering all movesets and knowing the game more deeply. however, for more competitive battles with my friends, i tend to use Fox, Lloyd, MegaMan, MetaKnight, BomberMan, Black Mage, Naruto and Link. Fox because i can do all sorts of advanced techniques with him, and he is fast, agile, hits rather hard and can pressure very easily. i also use Lloyd to abuse / counterpick characters with less range in their atacks, suck as Pikachu. i tend to use Megaman in a more camp-n-spam way, altough i often like to hop / short hop while i fire my bullets at the enemy, in order to make a mini wall of bullets that is hard to avoid. it is also pretty good to stop aproaches. MetaKnight i use him for the same reasons as fox, altough he is much safer but takes longer to kill. Bomberman i use him to ensure my enemies do not go into particular places where they would be at an advantage (stage control) as well as to finish them easily with bombs. i use Naruto for a balance between stage control, disjointed hitboxes, projectile camping and rush. i love setting up Rasen-shuriken combos, a technique i got pretty good at. I also use Link for defensive games. i use him a lot to punish, and projectile camp a lot. i also like to abuse his superior range in some attacks such as z-airs and such. overall though, i tend to use him as a counter-competitive character. most people do not bother to train with or against him, since he is so close to the tier list bottom. altough Link is actualy insanely good if used properly, i can kill some people at as little as 60% with a good setup. finaly, i use Black mage for Black mage stuff: double-meteors with d-air; meteors for edge guarding, well timed Stops for painfull punishing, etc. but, overall, i play them all in a rather annpying way, to irritate my oponents and make them do bad mistakes.
How much experience do you have with official Smash titles? (SSB64, Melee, Brawl. Include in this answer which characters you play/played.): i played them all extensively, but i do not own any. those were at my friend's home. in total i should have about 50 hours with Smash Bros., some other 50 in Melee, and close to 100 with Brawl, altough i never got to good in brawl because we played with wiimotes. and you know what that means.
Have you ever attended any Smash tournaments? If so, give some details about the tournament (number of participants, which games, etc). How well did you place? i have only followed them in livestreams, i never attended them because those are extremely rare in portugal and i obviously cannot afford to simply go 300 km north just to play a game. but in my school we once in a while do SSF2 tourneys and i absolutely raze my oponents, sometimes 4 stocking them with a bad Match Up.
When did you start playing SSF2? soon as it came out. quite some years ago, obviously. but only in the last 2 years have i started to take this game more seriously.
What is your favorite stage in SSF2? Explain. well, i simply love the art of dueling, specialy if it includes swords. therefore, i tend to aestheticaly like medieval maps better, such as Bowser Castle, Hyrule Temple, and that one from Fire Emblem. for more serious stuff, i tend to enjoy neutral stages like Battlefield and Final Destination, since they are really safe and theres nothing to distract you from your foe. Smashville is also good, though i hate the music. overall, i like all stages that are not banned, and a few of other banned ones such as, like i said, Hyrule. the only stage i really dislike is Yoshi's island.
Who, in your opinion, should be placed first on the SSF2 tier list? Under competitive settings why would this character perform on a higher level than all others? well, its hard to say, since it really depends on how a character is used. i could easily say MetaKnight, because of his overall atributes. everyone knows why; he even got banned from tournments for being considered a broken character in Brawl, and his SSF2 incarnation remains quite similar. however, everyone knows him, everyone expects him, and most people know how to counter him by now. so, i would probably say Pikachu, for his good ans safe attacks and recovery, good killpower after 120%, decent projectile and down-throw chaingrab. other ones would include Jigglypuff, due to her massive priority, insane aerial game, and extremely easy KO at low percents, particularly against larger characters like Goku, Captn Falc or the brick wall that is Donkey Kong. other good bets would probably be Sonic, of course, since he has so many aproaches and options, paired with one of the best recoveries in the game and great kill options.
Who, in your opinion, should be placed last on the SSF2 tier list? Under competitive settings why would this character perform on a lower level than all others? once again, it really depends, but i would easily say Peach. her attacks simply dont have the priority and hitbox size to be efective. she also relies heavily in luck, particularly in her turnips and f-smash. he has terrible vertical recovery, she is lightweight and easy to KO, she stands tall and is easy to hit, and overall she is too predictable, not to mention she has very situational KO options. other good bets, IMO, would be Donkey Kong, since he is so sensible to fast enemies and camping and has no disjointed hitboxes except down-special, altough his insane kill power kind of makes up for it.
If you could make only one change to SSF2 as it currently is, what would it be and why? well, its hard to say. probably, i would give characters more movement options, such as crawling, wall jumping and wall crawling, and footstooling. these would truly balance some characters up in therms of recovery, aproach options, and meteorsmashing.
What is your view on items in competitive play? thats a tough one. i overall do not play with items; yet Peach can generate them, so... but i digress. overall, i do not believe they belong in competitive play, altough maybe an exception for mr. saturn could be made - he is the most neutral item, and characters with poor reach would benefit imensely if they had him, but it is simply too weak to be game breaking. apart from that, its hard to judge peach. i once pulled out a bob-omb. how insane is that? imagine this happens in a tournment? yet, you cannot say it is unfair, since it is part of her possible moveset.
Do you have or can you download Skype? You don't need a mic or webcam. i have. my account name is war_therapy.
Why do you want to join the Smash Flash Back Room? What will you contribute? Why are you an exceptional applicant? Be as detailed as possible. i want to join the Back room because i want to do my part in making SSF2 the most enjoyable possible. as a casual game, few games of its type are even worthy of being considered as a match; however, in therms of more specific game details related to competitive play, it is a bit lacking. i want to help expand that, possibly even helping with balancing, altough i am open for anything, if you accept me. why am i an exceptional applicant? well, i think i am more patient and respectfull than a lot of other people around here, and i tend to be rather objective, and i simply do not troll. i can be a bit naive at times, though. but overall, dedication is what you can surely expect from me. i have very few games at my disposal, i want to follow gaming industry as a job, and this would be an insanely good oportunity for me to learn a lot of stuff. not to mention that theres some really awesome people already in the BR.
Additional information (Include in this section anything relevant to your application. This could include links to videos of yourself playing.)i do not have any videos, sadly. my current computer cant record them. but i play somewhat like a mixture between Niayre and DescendedSun. not as technicaly.driven as Descended Sun because i follow a simpler, more straight-forward strategy, not as flashy as Niayre in therms of combos, since i play mostly in defense, with occasional bursts of advanced technique and mindgames in offense. my strategies are different, of course.
hope this meets your critheria. thank you for the time to read this. i look forward for your questions, if you have any. otherwise, in case you dont accept me, well... at least i tried
