If you think about it logically for one moment, you could've established that BEFORE the internet got so wide and popular, but now, there's no way to control something of this scale. All you can do is force people to pay for entrance to YOUR site. But the only ones who can seem to get away with this is porn sites. If google did it, they'd get overtaken by other search engines faster than you can snap your fingers. Etc, etc. | | | | RoyMaster4 wrote: | | | | Yajuu wrote: Well, no, probably not. There is a good chance this is wrong. This 2012 Apocalypse hysteria is not a small nutjob movement based on fuzzy thinking and very little compelling evidence, it is in fact a very large nutjob movement based on a fuzzy thinking and very little compelling evidence. Need proof of that? An Amazon.com book search for "2012" generated 91,450 results. So one can conclude that there exists a market for this crackpot idea, a large market. Most intelligent people (most people reading this blog) understand, without me having to explain it to them, that this idea of a 2012 apocalypse is as wrong as the prediction that the world was going to end in the year 2000...oh no wait, the prophecy was ignorant to the fact that the Gregorian/Julian calendar started with the year 1, so actually the world was going to end in 2001, but that didn't happen either. If you need proof that the world did NOT end in 2000 or 2001, you need only notice that we are still here talking about the fact that it didn't happen. copy pasta'd
Now look at the scientific aspect. On that day in December in 2012 (I think December 21st, not 100% sure, too lazy to look it up), the earth, sun, and the center of the Milky Way will be in alignment. What effect this may have on the Earth, we don't know. For all we know, this could be the cause of 'Global Warming'. There was an Ice Age, you know. How did it happen, and how did it warm up? Maybe its due to this alignment. Another thing to note: Every 30,000 or so years, the sun has some solar flares. The next time that will happen is in 2012. Guess what around 30,000 years ago was? The first civilization. Meaning that this could be a major issue. Some scientists believe these solar flares could knock out all electricity for a few months. Anyways, on-topic... I doubt this pay-to-see internet will happen.
Please shoot yourself. We've had multiple ice ages, the last big one being 20,000 years ago. The Solar cycle is 11 years, and during it's peak we have multiple solar flares a day. This alignment takes place over 36 years, and guess what, the most accurate convergence happened in 1998. All of this is some mumbo jumbo you expect from a bad science fiction movie.

Yeah, but is his web hoster? I mean, if the payments Cleod makes gives him control over whether or not visiting payment is established, then we're safe. However, if the hoster that Cleod makes payments to has control, who knows what'll happen.

No, you are not. You are not paying to visit webpages by webhosts themselves. That's what the dude in the article is suggesting.

There would be no point in making people pay money just to go to their favorite websites. If that comes to pass, all it's gonna do is piss a lot of people off.
