He specified that it isn't an upvote downvote system, instead one more similar to smash boards and a lot of users are on board. Chill the grill.

Unlocking.

would also be a pretty great way to see how many users were on board with a great suggestion like this one

It's still related - and it's been discussed and shot down before

See? I wouldn't have to post this if there was a like system like smashboards

I honestly have a personal grudge about this kind of "like system", as a previous member of Smashboards before, as a personal like system that showed who liked your post can cause very bias like circumstances, and I personally detest it being a feature. Just my two cents.

If we had to have a like system, only something like Youtube I'd accept, however as mentioned before in the thread, it's against the rules to have an upvote system anyways.

Case in point, I disagree, and I much like it how this site has it now, as in you say your opinion and not be lazy and say your thoughts.

youtube's downvote doesn't even work though?

I think the general idea behind the suggestion is to only have a 'like' button and not neccesarily an 'upvote/downvote' system. Think or boards like tSR/the VG resource where people can 'thank' posts but not downvote them.

A like button is very useful in art communities because you can sort of lowkey show the artist/poster appreciation without needing to make posts like "Hey I like it" since you can just use the button to do that for you.

Answering Kuro's post as well with this, but when I was referring to the like system, I meant specifically to the whole "X person liked your post" part that I detest, and when it comes to the +1 like counter, I don't mind that kind of approach if we ever had that on this site, sorry for the confusion. (I know about that dislike button part about Youtube, they just disable it from being viewable, effectively making it pointless, but in hindsight, a dislike button isn't needed, when you could just not +1 someone's post and stuff.)

Again, I meant letting you know who liked your post I don't agree with, a +1 like system, much like Steven said is fine I guess, even though I don't think it's really necessary.

it's nice to know who liked what so we can know exactly who has a right and wrong opinion

Not too sure if sarcasm, but that's exactly my point with my previous statement. Cuz that's how favoritism/bias starts.

Btw, opinions can't be right nor wrong, as it's not something that's "fact."
