Gotta disagree with you there. It was great, and it's up there for sure but I think it being his best album is stretching it.

wolves is personally one of my new favorites, the frank ocean outro is one of the highlights of the whole record.
i wish frank ocean would drop a new album already. it's been years.

this s*** b poppin!!!! amazing how deakin alone is better than the entire group's latest album. im looking forward 2 hearing this whole thing, the track here is amazing a new favorite of mine is Dean Blunt's Babyfather project's first album, "BBF". it's like a satire on UK grime and hip hop culture, blends a lot of different experimental genres, including harsh noise, reggae, trap, grime (obv) and others. features some production by Arca as well, it's really sick stuff. https://youtu.be/w8ZlZ3NPhXI?t=2m28s

I've liked a lot of albums this year already, but Brother Mynor's newest release "Celebrities Doing Thaangs" has been my overall favourite so far, and it's consistently quality and good throughout. I've posted it once before in another thread, but I still like it a lot, and it's just a great, decently long hip-hop album.

Deak's new album blew every expectation I had out of the water.
Very very happy with it.

i don't think anyone had particularly high expectations for sleep cycle considering it was in dev hell for 4 years and deakin himself has a reputation as the ringo starr of the group
perhaps the ringo was geologist all along... hmm
regardless it fills the gaping void in my heart for another cool and atmospheric anco-related record in the style of feels side 2, person pitch, etc, rather than the coachella audience pandering stuff they've been doing since the success of mpp. even pitchfork is real sick of em now.

I haven't found anything to be Album of the Year material yet, but I'm really digging TWENTY88 (Jhene Aiko & Big Sean collaboration project). Overall, I do think the album falls flat on certain tracks, however, when the chemistry between Jhene and Sean is there, it makes for some really great Hip Hop/R&B.

I had a chance to listen to Deakin's new album and it's absolutely fantastic, also Nosaj Thing dropped an EP the other day that I think is really cool: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lYO4f3E0mA
