looks nice, but I'm not too fond of the color choice
however, I do believe that a long as it's accurate relative to each other, then it's the artist's choice one what saturation/tone/shade/tint/etc. to use

I think the metallic look is due to the colour choices and the angular shading lines
examine how light shines on 3d objects and try to adjust your sprites shading accordingly.

if you want charizard to look a little more fleshy, maybe aim for more saturated and slightly lighter colours. the lineart is very clean though, and mostly the shading is too. i like it a lot!

I've looked through your thread and I've noticed people commenting on your shading quite a bit. Although it is true, yes, that your Charizard and Squirtle both look metallic but I personally think they look splendid. They have a bit of a.. 3D(?) feel to them. Depth? I'm not sure. But nonetheless I like them.

EDIT: I wouldn't mind seeing some animations from the two most recent sprites.

IMO They have some issues on the shading, but he's definitely getting a hang on lightsources.
