Wait, a second. Is Yoshi's down-air really that powerful? Against a character standing on a slightly sloped ledge, I can get 48% just from using it once, out of a short hop. 44% on flat ground.
I'm assuming it must be extremely to get out of that, otherwise I'd imagine I'd see way more people complaining about it.

You can SDI fairly easily and get out of the full whammy, but you can still get hit by 30% or so if the Yoshi is good.
To be honest, compared to the rest of Yoshi's stuff, it isn't that great. Why dair when you can fair -> combo or fair -> usmash?

Even if it's not that great against most characters, it seems like it's really strong against Donkey Kong, because it's so easy to land, and with most of the hits.
It only takes a couple of those, and most characters are on dangerously high damage.
Once a character is on high enough damage with it, every single hit will launch them into the ground, and have them bounce back up into Yoshi's feet which seems pretty powerful, other than the fact that if they're on enough damage to do that, you probably should have killed them already.
But as a not-very-good player and an even-worse Yoshi player, it's not something I'm going to start doing.
It's just a bit weird that a single attack can get nearly 50% worth of damage, if you do it right, especially considering it's just a normal attack and doesn't require any charging.

You forget how long it takes to actually get that much damage. the only way I can get Dair to land most of its hits are in a combo; Launcher of choice->Uair-(beginning DJ) Uair->(slowing down of DJ)Dair after this little combo you can just pretty much finish the opponent at anytime with Dsmash, if you can land it Lets not forget the Masky Nspec frame traps <3

The main problem with D-Air is that despite being high-damage, it has enough Ending-Lag that opponents can just hit you right back after you D-Air them lol, which kinda sucks. However, you can circumvent this by Auto-Cancling D-Air (in fact, you can Combo out of an Auto-Canceled D-Air). While the Auto-Cancel window is small, it happens that a full Jump D-Air lands just in time to be Auto Canceled, and as a bonus, full Jumping allows D-Air to land all its hits pretty much. U-Air is a nice set up; there's also U-Throw at low damage, F-Tilt, and U-Tilt. My favorite, though, is U-Smash. At low damage you can do U-Smash U-Smash D-Air Jab1 F-Tilt Neutral-B or something fancy lol At higher damages, you can do D-Air D-Smash to KO.

That problem is also alleviated by doing dair in the air like Masky said.
Also, a lot of people don't have good enough reactions (or just don't know how) to hit Yoshi out of dair if you just mash jab.

Gonna use a White Shy Guy and revive this Yoshi thread So, Egg Roll is underrated in my opinion. If you use it in mid air before you use your flutter jump and immediately end it, I feel like it has that effect that Mario gets when he uses his cape, plus it stops him in mid air. That lift after using it can extend Yoshi's double jump height, making him being able to recover from pretty far distances. Example is in this replay: https://www.mediafire.com/?97zcygl6bu6tuzb(also that 4 stock tho)

I've been a Yoshi main since v0.8a (with Mario/Wario as secondary), but I haven't really done any tourney play due to lack of a decent computer.

I thought I was the only Yoshi main. Every time I go online, it's Marth's or Foxes. And this one Ichigo I can't beat.

Huh, that's a pretty interesting application. Kind of like Ness' PSI magnet. Thanks for sharing.
