Goku needs a moveset revamp

Observe the video above and take notes.
I'm just saying right now that Goku's current moveset is bland and taking source material from Dragon Ball FighterZ could make him more unique and fun instead of feeling forced.
Make him more combo-oriented and maybe make his moves have more multi-hits the when is percent his higher and have him rely on his Ki powers to net kills.
Maybe when he gets a resprite.
I even made a sketch, check the file enclosed.
I also think Ki Blast could be incorporated into his neutral as an uncharged version of Kamehameha.

I mean, his attacks are based off of actually moves he's done in the manga/anime. You look at any DBZ game, and all the way down to his normals reference to a specific pose from the series.

As for this topic: That's a completely different game. You're comparing air-dasher to Smash Bros.

Goku is extremely unique to SSF2 and Smash Bros. in general (Okay really, he's just a mash-up of Melee top-tiers, which is amazing).

Goku has amazing offensive abilities and combos. Have you seen how fast most of his normal are?! Possibly has the overall fastest normals in the game and make for speedy combo-links.

Not to mention, enhancing his movement further with Kaio-Ken. All of the DBZ like rushdown and movement, you'll find it in that mode. Your sketch is basically forcing Goku into Kaio-Ken like buff-state after he's passed a specific percent.

Much of what you asked for, Goku already has. You just have to play him within that manner to achieve it. I still have a gripe with Ki-Blast and that stupid Diving Dair he doesn't now. Think they definitely drastic from the best parts of Goku's playstyle.

I didn't make this thread to complain Goku himself. But through my eyes, he's a 'lil poorly designed, so I thought he could be a little more fun if we took inspiration from the DBZ fighting games and didn't make every single one of his move revolve around throwing a straight punch or kick and gave him a playstyle that required thought.

Personally I think it'd be neat if more of his tilts we're "ki infused" or he used the power-pole in some of his attacks. Perhaps he could use the afterimage technique in his rolls as well, just more stuff with visual fluff like his d-throw would be great.

Uuuuuuuugh. "x character needs to be more canon" arguments are so irritating and tiring. I've heard it with Ganondorf, I've really heard it with Bandana Dee, I've heard it with Naruto and Ichigo apparently needing their end-of-series SUPER ULTIMATE forms...

He really wouldn't. He'd be a blatantly gimmicky and disjointed mess.

Right now, he has a defined playstyle: high combo power at mid range.

Adding foreign elements like these would disrupt that.

Bandanna Dee uses every single weapon a typical Waddle Dee variant has used, a spear, an umbrella, and the Beam ability. So Bandanna Dee is already mostly canon, but that's not my argument.
His Ki powers could mostly be confined to his special buttons, I'm just trying to say that he could use a moveset which encourages the player to put more thought like (should I use the base variant to position my opponent away from me and put them in a bad situation while I'm at low percent, or the other variant to start a combo and possibly finish them off with a kill confirm while I'm at high percent?). I just thought I could make Goku good without relying on the consecutive use of Kaio-Ken and constantly mowing down opponents to give them no whenever he pleases. Slower and laggier characters are somewhat nonexistent because of his amazing mobility.

I can confirm they definitely use a lot more than just that, but it's mostly a "Flavor-of-the-Month" type scenario (Aside from generic ones like the Rope-swingers and the ones that ride on the Nruff's backs so I shall give you the pass for now
