That does sound like a legitimate concern, but one thing needs to be remembered, its doubtful that they're showing off all the stages, so hope is still alive for those wanting to play competitively. Though they might have to just deal with variations of Final Destination, which doesnt sound that bad.
Liking that new Fire Emblem stage though, it kinda reminds me of that stadium thing in Brawl where you could take snapshots of trophies.

It's not a legit concern really.
5-7 stages is a good amount of competitive stages and there will be that many.

What I'm really curious about is what kind of stages won't be getting Final Destination variants
Remember that Sakurai said in the Direct that "almost every stage" will have a Final Destination form. So which ones won't?
It can't be the really complicated ones, because Palutena's Temple has one.
It can't be the really simple ones, because Battlefield has one.
It can't be the ones that rely on their gimmick, because Mario Galaxy has one.
It can't be the ones that have stage bosses, because Wily Castle and Pyrosphere have one.
So what the f*** kind of stage doesn't have a Final Destination form??? This is one of the two things from the Direct that nobody has discussed at all for some reason, despite picking every one of Sakurai's words apart. That bothers me a little
(The other is the phrase "these figure into All-Star mode" when talking about assist trophies)

iirc this was a mistranslation or something and he just meant that the assist trophies were another part of Smash Bros' aim to be a "Nintendo All-Stars" game Don't quote me on that though
