Speaking of True Arena, I almost beat the Return to Dreamland one without any abilities (i got up to the final boss, but then lost).

I got myself Kirby Dream Collection for christmas. It's so good.

It's been a while, but the US Kirby website has short videos for the new game.
Here's what we know so far:
The game's gonna have gyroscopic wagglan effects.
We don't know much about Taranza (except for Japan, who got the game months ago), but his design looks a lot like a spider, and Taranza sounds like araña and Ananzi the spider god, and he lives in Floralia, which is guaranteed to be flower-related, so odds are high the final boss is gonna be spider-related.
Circus Kirby is real, and he's got moves like bouncing up on a trampoline (basically Hi Jump), juggling bowling pins (hits directly above him), and jumping through a flaming hoop (he travels in a parabola, and deals fire damage on the way out).
Sniper Kirby, now called Archer Kirby, is far different from its predecessor Cupid Kirby; dash+jump lets him fire a barrage of arrows diagonally down, there's at least two levels of arrow charging, a dash attack where he hits enemies with the bow twice, Hawkeye-style, and he can hide behind a fake star block, and move around and attack while hiding. From the footage shown, it looks like playing while hiding is limited, and we don't know if or how he can be broken out of it. Probably yes, or else he'd be overpowered in Smash Mode. We metagaming up in this b****.
We saw Beetle and Bell Kirby already, their trailers were up on the Japanese website before.

Game came out today. I bought a copy, and god damn if it isn't the comfiest thing ever. The new powers feel great, and so does the 3d background jumping. Only thing that I have to complain about is that Hypernova Kirby doesn't feel as fun as the old Ultra powers did; it's just a little more limited. You suck things in, you pull things, you suck up giant projectiles and spit them back out. With the ultra attacks, there was more variety in how they could be used.

Have you played the Kirby Fighters mode? It is good?

Haven't tried it yet. I was hoping to try it with friends, but who knows when that'll happen, seeing as we all go to different schools.

The ultra abilities in Return to Dreamland were pretty limited. Yeah, there were several and they were kinda flashy, but ultimately you did the same thing with each of them. Hit s***. From what I understand Hypernova tends to have more creative uses

Did you forget the time you used Flare Beam to electrify and activate machinery? Or when you used Snow Bowl to form a giant snowman's head?

Ultimately though what I'm getting at is that each one had a single use every time you got it, whereas they play with Hypernova a bit more

So, little fact about the Kirby Fighters mode: it's missing fighters. A chunk of the abilities never made it into the multiplayer mode, presumably for balance. Which is nice and all, but at the same time kinda sucks, because we all want Melee for the balance, but we want MUGEN for the fun. Which is why it sucks that I can't use Leaf Kirby in Kirby Fighters, why it's weird that three of the four new abilities are not in this mode, and why it really sucks that you can't use Spear Kirby.



On the plus side: Wheel Kirby is back.

Can you still block attacks in this game? Because if you can, i understand why Leaf isnt available there. Guarding with the Leaf ability makes you completely intangible for as long as you guard (at least it did in RtDL), which would be incredibly broken for that kind of gameplay mode.

Sure yeah, we all understand why some of the abilities are banned. That doesn't mean we can't still want them.

Kirby Fighters is getting its own standalone version, with added features.
- New stages are available, including one based on Butter Building and one based on the fight with Dynablade.
- Team battles are a thing now, with 2 on 2, 3 on 1, probably 2 on 1 as well.
- Boss battles against Kracko, King Dedede, probably more.
- Unlockable costumes for different abilities.
- If you have Triple Deluxe, you get Beetle and Bell Kirby unlocked.
- Oh yeah, Dedede's Drum Dash gets a standalone too.
No news on an American release just yet, but the Japanese version comes out on the 23rd.

i couldn't be more excited about dedede drum dash getting a standalone release, i literally remember saying i wanted that as soon as i tried that minigame
