Mewtwo has other design problems but not in the same way as Lucario's

Luke has the issue of "who designed this and who thought it made sense"
Mewtwo has the issue of "nobody balanced him correctly and they had weird balancing choices"

seriously why is Mewtwo so damn LIGHT

"The more damaged you are the more power you have" really should be explored more, i think it can work in smash, though it should be better, lucario in smash bros is playable though does tend to get cheep near higher percents, what they should of done is made lucario more like a car[they already did that with his u-spec] make it the more gas[damage] he has, the harder it is to control him, it should make him, more slipperly, maybe more lag, cause it's his aura that channels his damage, he shouldn't be able to fuction like he is at 0% then 120%, that's what i would of done, i find the inclusion of his aura fine, but poor presented, and for mewtwo, i wanted to like him, but his specs are underwhelming and yes why is he light, he is adam west and made of helium?

i'm actually surprised they haven't pulled a srs-now version of Pichu yet

characters hurting themselves or sacrificing health isn't really anything new to fighting games and i couldn't imagine it being too bad in Smash. some characters have small uses of the idea (Kirby or Dedede when they hold a full charge for their attacks) but it's not really based around it. Carmine from Under Night comes to mind.

most attacks that do that seem to need a full charge (explosives aside of course) which will probably rarely happen in actual play

Tbh on the down low I wpuldn't mind Pichu returning if he was heavily buffed from Melee. Like (even if it wouldn't make sense) Pichu's electric attacks did like 2-4% more than Pikachu's at the cost of doing dmage to itself. Maybe some changed properties on its specials as well.

i can't really say i want Pichu to be good since being bad was the whole purpose of him but i want someone with a similar design (not moveset) of "hurting yourself but dealing good damage"

add healing to the mix in some way, shape, or form and you have yourself an interesting character

I always thought it'd be more fun if Pichu had some sort of charge system, kinda like Kirby's Spark ability. Pichu can charge electricity by moving and attacking but, just like in the surce material, he hurts himself if he overcharges. Specials'd be stronger, but the more he has charged the more damage he does to himself. And then throw in a Discharge down special where he can discharge the electricity for an area of effect/small healing move and presto.

But that's just me.

He never said Mewtwo was buffed, just not balanced correctly, which is proved in that article you just posted.
