Mario. He's a pretty athletic dude and actually throws punches and kicks outside of his fighting games. Sonic's got noodle arms and only really attacks by curling up. Get in his face and stop him from building momentum and he's not lasting long.

Thank you for your thoughtful answer re: Mario v Sonic. Kind of assumed sonic would have the advantage but it makes sense that he'd be worse off when confined to close quarters.
