this is why time travel, at least backward time travel, isn't and will never be possible. Any time travel into events that have already happened would have already occurred, meaning we would know about it. That's setting aside all the situations that it would cause where you affect the conditions in which you traveled back in time at all.
time travel is just a fun hypothetical topic, come up with whatever rules for it that you want |

Actually, I think it would be a one-way trip really. I think if someone is to travel back into time to, let's say, prevent World War II, the point in the future (Point X) where the person left would continue forward unhindered (due to the lineair nature of time). The point in time where the person would arrive (Point Y) and the changes he would make would not alter Point X due to Point X having aforementioned lineair nature of time. I think it would actually create an alternative time starting by Point Y, a timeline where World War II never happened. In Point X World War II would still have occured because there is already a record of it. For all we know the timeline may already have branched off multiple times and we just don't know about it, because we're part of 'the past'. _________________    (you can now tweet mean things at me on Twitter @StevenEggplant) |
