That's how I am. Honestly having fun with the game for me is playing it to get better. Any other way is either annoying or no fun at all.
I'm gonna play Cloud in my next tournament to see how I do. I've honestly never clicked with another character as well I have with him. Though the unknown factor of him atm is really worrying me since there's a ton of mixed opinions on him.

I feel u bro I actually haven't done any roll cancel grabs with robin I have done some b reverse though and I think thats become second nature to me now.

So after messing around with my new main (Mii Swordfighter), I found that there could be a potential kill confirm on Sheik of a DThrow -> UAir.

I'll need to test this more extensively, but if it's there, that's some pretty cool stuff. At the moment, I'm not sure if it combos. I'm assuming it does because the Level 9 CPU which has a Frame 1 reaction time didn't airdodge it upon use. It was done with a Short/Thin Mii.

Wow u main the mii swordfighter? Haven't seen them other than Nyani from clash tournaments.

It works, but only on certain percents and weight classes. Lvl 9 CPU's not dodging means nothing considering the amount of times I've landed Uthrow to Uair with D3.

I main Mii Swordfighter, too. I have done since I first played Smash 4, mainly because none of the other characters' movesets clicked with me. I've since picked up Lucina and to a lesser extent Cloud, however I still prefer Mii. But I'm not that great at Smash in general, so who I main means nothing, essentially.

Though I find it very annoying that I can't use Miis online. I know they say that they're not allowed because people could use offensive Miis or whatever, but I don't know why players other than you can't just be shown a default Mii instead.

As I said, I really like the moveset of Mii Swordfighter, and not being able to play as my main, online, is the main reason I don't play online at all.
And even though there's no possibility for a Smash scene where I live, I obviously wouldn't attend a tournament with them banned, either.

But none of you were probably wondering, so I'll just disappear again.

I actually don't really like that option. Fox shine doesn't send people in the direction that it used to send in melee. Melee's shine was a lot better. In smash 4 it could be useful for characters that get gimped easily but for other characters that don't its not really gonna be all that great. There are better ways to gimp recoveries for fox even in smash 4. And fox has better combo options too imo.

So I'm considering Smash Con in august to be the first major tournament I participate in. I've been wanting to travel to majors for a while so I'll aim for that as a starting point. Best thing about tournaments is learning new things, not always about winning but figuring out your flaws, where you excel, meeting new players and playing them for a new experience and learning from that. I'm excited honestly.
