What if you neutral b frame perfect so the active grab hitbox hits them the first frame they escape the egg?

hypothetically it could be but there's no way anyone could time it, the breakout time varies way too much

No Skailler, you were laying down as I had hit you with EggLay, and the animation made Pikachu appear to be further away. I still got a video of the replay. Gonna share it here https://www.dropbox.com/s/8ufwk18bre78n ... y.avi?dl=0EDIT: The time of the replay is 5:03 when the EggLay chain is made, or 1:57 by the video seconds

The problem with using it competitively is that because Egg Lay's animation takes way longer than the mashing out animation takes, you can always mixup mashing and Yoshi has no way of reacting. You could just not mash buttons, let them whiff, and then mash like hell, or just mash from the start, etc.

There are visual cues depending on how hard you are mashing and there is a subtle animation right before they break out of the egg, its really hard to notice at first, but it's there.

But the time when you know how to time Egg Lay (the mashout animation) is too close to the time when they're idle out of the egg.

Double post but oh well.
Does anyone know if Yoshi's DJ has super armor or subtractive knockback armor? Can you be hit out if it if, for example, you're at 100% and Puff Rests you?

Just tested it and a fresh Rest will knock you out of it at 23%, with Yoshi receiving full knockback from the move. I believe it works in a similar way as it worked in Brawl, which is neither substractive armor nor super armor, it just ignores any sort of knockback below a threshold.

Around 100%, most attacks with decent knockback will go right through it.

Just did some Yoshi labbing. This character has some really cool stuff.
Jab combos really well into stuff at right around mid percents for most of the cast (size matters more than anything else really) because the hitstun of the jab inescapably transitions into the normal frames of lag from landing on the ground, giving you just enough time to ftilt them into oblivion.
Bair is godlike. A SHFF'd bair (without the last strong hit) combos into ftilt at many percents on many characters, which can even chain into another SHFF bair. The hits get stronger, so you have to decide based on percent how many hits you want: the full move rarely combos except at really low percents with heavyweights and when you have a ton of momentum, but the first hit can combo into ftilt or fsmash at really high percents. You can even combo bair into fair depending on the situation, and other things like nair are even more guaranteed! Bair can even chain at some percents into itself across the stage and into fair. RAR full jump bair can sometimes combo into DJ rising fair or DJ rising bair!
This character is awesome and I'm inspired to learn him.

I'll take Stuff No One Cares About for $2000.
Yoshi's jab combo has this really strange property where instead of most other jab combos (AFAIK for everyone else you have to hit jab twice within a specified IASA period) there's this weird timer thing where you can jab, turn around or do something for a frame or two, and then jab again and you'll get jab 2 instead of jab 1. It has essentially no usefulness (jab 2 is essentially a less powerful ftilt that does less damage, combos less well, and has nearly the same frame data), but it's interesting. Samus has an even weirder thing where AFAIK you can't jab if you jab and then turn around for a couple of frames.

Anyone who reads this thread: the wiki says Dragonic Reverse is a thing. That's wrong, right?

Yeah, I can't reproduce it so I'm going to say no it does not exist. Yoshi's DJ doesn't grant enough initial momentum to transfer into a slide, let alone one as dramatic as Brawl's.

Plus, I'm pretty sure you don't get to DJ as close to the ground in this game, so you can't really transfer the momentum easily.

Double post yadda yadda yadda.
Yoshi can grab the edge by running at the ledge and using up-B. It's stylish and aids in edgeguarding, because if they get hit with the egg you can fair or nair them.
