Blitzy is absolutely correct! What are they there for, dearest fora, if we are to limit ourselves towards their use? It seems that, in our rush to prevent improper use, we forget these "smilies" are perfectly able to be used constructively and intellectually, expressing emotions we simply cannot through text alone- if I were to tell you I was overjoyed about somethin', would you feel the true extent of my happiness in a single, impersonal phrase? I think not! This emotion would be detached from any sort of personality, persistently drifting from one indirect post to another. I believe the time has come to eschew your oppressive views in the hopes of something greater- the hope that this fora may use tools of expression with competence and purpose!

Whimmy, the ideal thing here is that intelligent people can use these extensions of the self competently- those who cannot, yet persist anyway, will only succeed to show their incompetence and likely find themselves outcast by the majority of this fair fora! I can admit that there will be trials ahead if we do not expressly mention to newcomers the over-exploitation of "smilies" is not welcome, but the flora must grow before it can bear fruit~
