I just want to point out that that is very far from the "Brawl Route"

With Brawl, we'd seen so much s*** before launch that there was very little actual surprise when we got the game. We knew all the newcomers except four, we knew intimate details about how every stage, item, mode and mechanic worked... there was next to NO surprise to Brawl's release.

By contrast they seem to be actually leaving some surprises this time around. Characters who were traditionally secret (but everyone knew would be back anyway), like Luigi and Marth, aren't considered SUPER SECRETs anymore because why should they be

I feel like there's gonna be more hidden newcomers than in Brawl. Just a hunch, though

How is he deconfirmed?
Parasol Dee was already revealed in the direct, so explain how this actually affects Bandana Dee;
or are you just saying this because you just don't want him in?

Please don't try and argue that there are enough significant differences between Bandana Dee and Parasol Dee. It's like saying Kamek could still be a character after we saw Magikoopas as enemies.

Yeah but there's literally no difference between Magikoopas and Kamek. Magikoopas are even called Kamek in Japan.

I actually meant leaving 12 unconfirmed characters out of the entire roster, but thanks for at least putting that statement in check.

Hopefully Sm4sh has more than that, and hopefully the biggest surprises are left to be discovered.

Personally I think Bandanna Dee has enough defining characteristics to separate him from the enemy Dees.

Does it mean I want him playable? Not really, no. Them showing up in Smash Run is in no way a deconfirmation though.

There were 12, but nobody with any sense was worried about Marth, Luigi, Captain Falcon, Ganondorf or Jigglypuff (although I could understand the arguments for the others)

So seven potentially surprising reveals - two of which were leaked beforehand, two were moderately surprising veterans and of the three new characters, only one had a moveset that was totally his own. It was pretty disappointing.

I get the feeling Sakurai wants to make the secret characters less disappointing this time around -- thus less new characters are revealed before launch, and the obvious characters are revealed before launch as well, even if doing so breaks tradition
