I just finished Route A, so I figure now is about as good a time as any to start some discussion. Share your favorite characters (mine is Engel), your favorite weapon combos (Virtuous Grief + Type-4O Lance), your favorite time the game just kicked you square in the testicles (the end of Treasure Hunt at the Castle), whatever else you feel like.

I want there to be more discussion about this game. I've only recently beaten it, the only thing left for me to accomplish is the Y ending which involves the level 99 secret boss, and I'm only in my 60's.
My choice of favorite weapons changed drastically after going through all the upgrades, and once I started going through route C. I decided to give the characters weapons that correlated to their personalities and story arcs, so A2 would use the Virtuous Contract and Phoenix Sword, to represent the way 2B was still living on inside her, as well as the Type-3 Lance and Type-40 Fists reflecting her status as the first and last of the YoRHa army. Meanwhile, 9S's descent into machine-killing insanity meant he was using the Beastbane and the Machine Spear.

does the combat get more consequential on harder difficulties? i cleared every route on normal with under 6 deaths and i was expecting that at some point the game would expect a higher standard for dodging and timing ie MGR

On hard mode you can't lock on to enemies, and on very hard you can't lock on and also die in one hit. I believe those are the primary differences, don't know if enemy types change as well. Bayonetta the combat system is not.
