Super Mario Brothers X is a massive fangame that combines elements from Super mario 1, 2 , 3, world and various other games like metroid, zelda.
The Game is most notible for its extensive level editor that allows the player to create almost any type of level they can imagine. You can create a level, submit it on the forums and gain popularity. The game also allows you to create episodes by using the SMW or SMB3 world map tiles. Or you could create a Super Mario 64 styled HUB.
The Story
Super Mario Bros X, often called SMBX for short, was created by Andrew Spinks, also known as '' Redigit ''. He first started developing the game in 2009 untill two years later when Redigit "received a phone call from Nintendo's legal team who "threatened to file a lawsuit against him". No further development on SMBX was made by Redigit after this call, then shifted full attention to Terraria. The SMBX community still survived underground, although Redigit adviced the community not to put out any downloads of SMBX. A couple of months later The SMBX community was able to put out the SMBX download and the community was becoming stable again.





Theres an endless amount of levels and episodes you could create and play. The sky's the limit.

Best Mario FanGame ever

Despite being dead, People still makes Custom Levels/Episodes.

Isn't this game older than the internet itself? I remember it since I was in primary school.

You know, it kinda bugs me you wrote in the title the word "Brothers" as opposed to the correctly abbreviated way "Bros."

It's only been out for like 4 years.

So since Byllant was in Primary school then.

i think byllant's thinking of super mario bros z which came out in 2006, but that's not a game so

Six years? then maybe I confused it with another Mario game with costumization. Can't tell if it was Super Mario Flash or Mario Forever.

I confused it with Super Mario War.

I had like 10% finished on a somewhat long episode a while back

It had a SMB1 type gimmick with the no-left scroll and the 4 level backtoback worlds and such, although I was taking advantage of some other things (The Desert World had little fireballs hopping up and down out of pots for instance.) There was a good amount of secret 1ups scattered around, to help deal with the difficulty. It wasn't at Kaizo/IWBTG levels of hard, but it was probably harder than The Lost Levels. Of course none of that whole backwards warp pipe thing.

Had intentionally bad English and stuff. I miss that game, I need to find those files and maybe waste another chunk of my life finishing development
