So, Falco is really good imo. Pulled the best parts of him out of Smash 4 with a bit of melee sprinkled in IMO. Fun to use against CPU's and he might become my main in SFF2 just like he is in SSBB and Smash 4

Try out back jump short hop bair with Falco, it's lowkey super OP with the momentum change hitting someone that is chasing you.

Falco is soo fun, just as I expected. Now Shine dair combos seem kinda hard to execute to me but I've never really played Falco in Melee so maybe that's just me. It seems possible tho, even without the wavedash you can still short hop out of the shines to avoid getting stucked and you can follow your opponent that way. You can also mix it up with uptilt. Overall Falco seems to have so many combo options it's insane.
Also bombsoldier kills are sooo satisfying. Even dair kills. Keeping the melee shines and dair was the right choice, it makes Falco so awesome, like in Melee. I'm gonna have so much fun maining this guy. He get bodied just as much as Fox and probably even more to keep it balanced however just like in Melee. But in SSF2 for the moment he seems stronger than Fox to me. With this many options for his combo game, even if people learn to DI, it would still be possible to pull-off nice combos.

Bird's the word, y'all. Shine has so many combo options it's not even funny. Dair is such a good move, same with bair. Lasers are great too. You can literally play low-level neutral like Melee: shoot the gun, then do banging Falco punish things once your opponent is stunned or flustered enough. Multishining is hella easy. Also, my costume tier list:
PPMD: Green bird S: Default bird F: All others if you're gonna @ me combat me

Other Blue and Black Bird are buster tier, though.

I know this only works because it's against a CPU but I think I'm starting to figure out how to combo with him on SSF2 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SsRzdb ... e=youtu.beShine isn't that good compared to melee because of no wavedash but dair is still broken and it's so satisfying. Lasers as well.

OK, so I've done some exploration of this character's tools and we badly need to revive this thread.
For one, fair is amazing and underutilized because I think most people are still in Melee Falco mode. If they DI in, you can get psuedo-Ken combos off of the strong it, and it combos into suicide dair (or just a good combo dair if offstage) if they fall out, which happens pretty consistently if they SDI or you do it rising. Uthrow -> rising fair -> dair is fairly consistent. Offstage, if you have a DI read you can do fair -> shine -> dair, which will often work because they'll DI in: just fade back when you do your dair. Against some characters, bair will kill first, so use that if the situation requires it.
Falco's grab game is also much better than in Melee. Counterintuitively, I'm pretty certain the best DI for uthrow is no DI on the first hit, and ASDI/DI the lasers to either direction to mix it up. The reason is that, although you can get followups regardless at most percents (unless you have TAS SDI), DI'ing left or right on the throw hitbox allows the Falco to easily react, whereas it's not possible AFAIK to react to which way you go after you get hit by the lasers: you already chose an aerial drift direction.
Bthrow is cool and can chaingrab unwary opponents. I believe Falco and Fox can DI down to tech without getting hit by the lasers, but characters like Falcon are essentially combo food at a lot of percents. It creates a very interesting situation if you bthrow offstage at lower percents, and I'm still navigating (and would appreciate input) on the best way to convert. I've started doing run-off -> Shine to cover falling towards the stage -> dair to hopefully cover jump to stage, drifting back on, but I think other things might also work. Bthrow -> dtilt or bthrow -> usmash are solid combo starters against fast-fallers.
Speaking of dtilt, it's probably Falco's best way of killing because of PAL dair. It's a good combo starter if they DI in, but I don't think you can get much if they DI correctly a lot of the time.
This was a bit of a wall of text, but overall I think Falco is different from Melee in ways people haven't fully understood or utilized yet, and this character needs a lot more optimization. I think Falco's punish game optimization doesn't really lie in pillars like in Melee: without wavedashing, you can't do nearly as interesting platform movement or effective handling of full DI to the side, and dair doesn't have enough hitstun to easily combo into stuff at lower percents, although people don't seem to know that yet! Instead, I think Falco's combos might start being more horizontal in nature, mixing up DI'ing to the side for dair and uair, and DI'ing up or down for nair, bair, and fair. That, combined with a solid laser game and solid edgeguarding to close out stocks, could easily see Falco as a top-tier character in my opinion.

You know, if you will just make Fire Chicken really bad might as well make his Horizontal Recovery good, no? How about being allowed to double jump after his Side-B? Maybe somewhat like Sm4sh or outright being able to jump after/during Side-B.
