OK, I just want too get this idea out before too much time passes. It'll be really hard to get your head around it, but I ask that players just give it some thought.
The story centers around a half human-half elf Paladin named Aust. His birth era is close to pre-midevial . Aust's story is long, but it can be divided into two large events. The RP I'm thinking of focuses on the second half. This is the half that's harder to consider a good story, but think about it, I beg you. Aust has been sent on a mission from the God of Time (or just God, in this case) that involves traveling through the fabric of time itself to solve the problems that the Devil has caused. With each time in history he visits, he comes across a new important character of that time. The problem here is that you will recognize most of the characters, and I'm afraid this is too much of a cliché. Would this be too much for the RP section? After each time period he visits, the character's help is recruited to Aust's force against the Devil. After all zones in time are straightened out, Aust travels back to his time with the recruits to wage the final war against the Devil. In a twisted turn of events, Aust almost gets locked away in an empty dimension to battle with the Devil until the end of existence, but a close friend manages to exchange places with Aust, and Aust is saved, only to find the world in ruin. Everything he once knew had been destroyed. Family, friends, home...everything. Then, through a wormhole, scouts from the far, far future appear to take Aust to their world, the end of time. They need him to prevent the deity known as The Cyst from absorbing the whole galaxy's life force (read about the Cyst in the RPdex, as well as Morgo and his shadows). The RP will be in this time, where all of Earth is literally plunged into darkness. There is a small refuge that houses a rebellion force that is being kept alive, but terrorized by the shadows. Aust is brought here to save the galaxy this time. A last note. The shadows are simply normal people overtaken by Morgo's power to turn beings into shadows. The elite force of the shadow army is made up of the recruits from the periods of time Aust visited. The only way to reverse the control a shadow has over a person is to defeat them in battle and say their name to call them back. The big part is recognizing the character that's taken over by shadow (they appear as silhouettes and only retain basic features of their former selves) by actions and basic shape and ridding each individual one of the shadow that possesses them.
What I want is just an opinion. I want to know if this will be accepted by any of you, and if it will fit into the RP section. I've worked hard on this story, although it makes it feel like a big cliché. Although I'm sure if this is bad I'll definitely be told so by some people here, be honest.

You might want to separate timetraveling to the past with the timetraveling to the future.
Back to the past is already viable for one. I don't think interaction with historical figures to be cliché, its seems that way but in reality it is rarely tried, due to GM and NPC limitations. I wonder how it'd happen though. Very interesting in my opinion, but you'd have to be some kind of history buff. Would potential situations include historic events such as, in an ironic twist, we must save Hitler so the future as we know it is not tampered with? Or re-enact the Battle of Agincourt so that King Henry wins? etc...
As for the future, sounds so very cliché. Scrap it.

I'm not really talking RL history, actually. Sure, maybe a few people from our actual real life history, but the focus is fictional characters. And what do you mean by "scrap the future idea"?

I don't think he realizes that the future is basically the present in this case.

Yeah, the setting takes place in the far future of Earth. In Earth's condition at that time, though, the technology has to be downgraded to much simpler things that you'd expect.

You don't time travel in the RP. That's what happened before the time the RP starts. Care to go in depth on the story, though?

Sounds cool, but what do you mean by we don't time travel, so it is just the final battle?
