So, whats the general plan now? All Ive heard so far is "make a new one plz" or "lets just try and reacue the current one" although Im feeling option #2 is the current way to go. I admit that the idea of making the current wiki private, but if only TSON can do that, thats kinda counterproductive imo (although its more secure).

People are at the moment editing the current wiki, we should probably wait until everything MG is back online before we hear word from devs/site admins on what they think of making an official wiki. Everyone working on the wiki is taking their time, we're in no rush.

A new wiki will fail miserably if it's made private. If there are "experts" around there, why don't they go and edit the wiki we have? oh wait! they do, these users doesn't necesarily have to be devs to do that, but still, there has been devs editing the wiki (Damian, Tid, ElvisDitto and TSON, who is actually the founder for those who don't know that). I know this because there is actually a SSF2-only wiki but nobody edits it, to be honest.

We currently are witnesses of what happens when you let a bunch of users have private rights to write a website, yes! we have a website ran in the way those who ask for a private wiki want and let me tell you, they have committed mistakes or incongruencies nobody is be able to correct or rectificate and I'm sure not all are willing to patroll those actions every day. I'm talking about about the DOJO!!!. If the wiki, which is open for anyone to edit, barely has 3 users editing it per day, [sometimes] with a range of less than 15 edits by per day, what makes everybody think a private wiki will have users willing to edit it every day?

So rescuing the current wiki is the best solution, that, and also updating the DOJO!!!, as it works as a source for the wiki.

It would be a royal waste of effort to try and create a new wiki /again/. We've already tried this two times before and one was even hosted on the MG domain. It does not work.

can't you make the pages only show "View Source" rather than "Edit Page"?

I would like this also. However, its a universal thing on topic related wikis such as Bleach wiki, Avatar wiki and Wookiepedia. I would love if they were able to change it.

I think the best idea is to have trusted users deal with the wiki. Applications/knowledge tests regarding the game might be good. That way we can have people who actually know their stuff putting up viable and reliable information.

People should not worry about vandalisms, as long as they are human-made, when a bot does vandalism, now we have a problem, but that's less likely. Also Wikia has a staff that detects vandals, reverts their edits and blocks their IP's. BTW, it is possible, somehow, to have all pages protected so that only admins and bureaucrats can edit it, it's called "cascading protection", but then again, why'd you guys still want the wiki to go private? I have already pointed out why that will not work. Users have to be patrolled and tested, yes, but to do the things right (so they don't messed it up), not to have the privilege for editing.
