I actually want to see this become a thing.

It's odd because when I first saw FNAF I had a very distinct impression of it and yet I haven't read or heard anything about the game that mirrors my opinion of it.
So uh, here's what I thought about it, both before and after playing it myself.

I'd like to think that an effective horror game mixes gameplay with aesthetic to be scary and s*** and I see a lot of horror games that don't do that. They have gameplay lifted from any other game and toss creepy imagery at it and put something in that startles you.
However I don't think FNAF swings that way. The gameplay consists of management. In a survival-y sort of way. Which is actually a really f*** good setup for a horror game. The reason being that frantic management is really stressful and jumpscares are most effective when you are stressed. The game forces you to pay a lot of attention to it and to think fast to survive which is why it f*** people up when it explodes in their face. Like looking for wally in a where's wallly book then having a hand come out and slap you in the face. It wouldn't mean much if you weren't so involved and absorbed in it at the time. It's like playing a horror version of diner dash or something.
So that's why I think it works as a horror game and people should stop giving it so much s***. That being said I think the 'lore' isn't complex, it's just f*** convoluted. Which people seem to confuse with each other a lot. Also the visual aesthetics of the game may as well be white noise to me. I understand the juxtaposition of child friendly animatronics corrupted in a horror setting but f*** hell we've never seen that before right? It's right up there with creepy dolls. I should probably mention I don't think FNAF ever really scared me but neither did dead space or slender or paranormal activity ect ect. It got a lot closer though so I think that's something.
