So what you're trying to say: somehow, recolored brawlified sprites somehow convey more emotion than more modern sprites that follow a more grounded artstyle?
I don't know about you, but there was a period where every character put on the same copied-and-pasted facial expression for literally every action they've done other than expressing pain. When a character gets a resprite, it's for a pretty good reason.

Yes, but those brawlified sprites understood for the most part that a different pixel density would require embellishment or stylization. A lot of the resprites suffer from their own issue of every redrawn face looking equally dead as a result of chasing a 3d aesthetic in a 2d sprite, while the earlier ones could convey so much more with less.

I don't see anything conveyed in your examples, both that old Ness and Yoshi look completely empty and without any personality at all.

Ness hitting the ground during PK Thunder 2 makes him bounce off, but he doesn't do that when hitting a wall or under the arena



EDIT:
I just realized there's neither an Event or Classic Mode level where you fight several Kirbys (Multi-Man style except they can use NeutralB) with random copy abilities, and it bothers me a little bit

I like rayman's victory theme and all, but it doesn't really match the other victory themes.
it sounds less "grand" like the other victory themes.

This is really just a nitpick with Smash in general, but I wish victory themes were unique to characters and not just to series. I know it's more work since there's a lot of characters, but it would still be pretty cool. Even if it's still the same tune but altered differently so it reflects the character more.

time for a super nitpick

it always bugged me that the first ssf2 trailer used a clean version of the brawl theme, but the 2014 remake of the same trailer just used the 2006 trailer audio, including the newcomer sound and pit's voice

One thing I noticed during Lucario's FS in the trailer.

The scream he makes when shooting the beam is his scream from Brawl, despite having his Sm4sh/Ultimate voice clips here.

The pause camera is centered on the bottom of the character sprites instead of around the middle, and that bothers me when trying to look at a tall/large character's animations frame-by-frame (be it for frame data or looking for graphical errors), as i have to pan the camera up almost every single time when pausing before i get to take a look at the sprites
For example, when pausing as Waluigi (or any character with a tall sprite in general), their head is going to be out of the frame (or just barely) at first

As you can see, it's centered on his feet


This gets a little more annoying with animations that make the character reach further up or "jump" without it being an actual jump (the camera will still center on their actual coordinates instead of the visible sprite)
