I guess this subject is rather,

touchy.

Levity aside, I do believe discipline has gotten lax since the turn of the millenium. What ever happened to those righteous smacks you got back in the day?

I remember an incident when I was still in high school, of a student claiming she had felt harassed by a teacher, later turned out he just put his hand on her shoulder as he was telling her how to answer one of the test questions. That s*** still went on his permanent record, though. So I can kinda see why they don't want teachers touching students.

It's a pity really. Most of the incidents that occur (or a lot of them anyway) are probably misunderstandings like the situation Hakker described.

Huh. I guess it's really lenient here. I once had a math teacher who touched kids a lot. I don't mean that sexually. If he was whispering in your ear, he'd get so close to your face it'd look like he was kissing you from afar. He was a really eccentric dude, but he eventually got fired.

That's not lax.

Still, I prefer a male teacher who isn't afraid to be a guy. I had an Economics instructor who doubled as the football coach. If we answered one of his trivia questions right, he'd toss us licorice. And hell, he even loved swearing and jokes. I remember a guy challenged him to a bare-fist boxing match because he said he was better than him. He agreed and they did it in the middle of class. The teacher won.

Still, he was only 28. Pretty young, but better than having a boring teacher. Plus, he was extremely nice.

Alot of my teachers are like that. After all, we're not little kids. There's no reason why they can't just act like normal people. They usually teach better too.

The more I think about it, the more unreasonably strict this seems.
