I just happen to think Snake is a one-time-treat. Guest characters usually only stay or one entry. Of course, you can also point your internet finger at Sonic, but iunno I give 'ol Blue another chance; Sonic was the most wanted character for Brawl, and he also has a running video game series with Nintendo's star Mario (The Mario&Sonic Olympic series). I won't take him for granted, I'm not even sure if we'll even see third parties in Smash 4, but if they do I would like Sonic the Hedgehog.

Here's the deal about all of this stuff about Megaman and Zero, as seen in my eyes...

When Sonic was added, Shadow was an assist trophy.

Let me go over their roles..

-Megaman: Protagonist of his series
-Sonic: Protagonist of his series

-Shadow: Darker version of the protagonist
-Zero: Not exactly darker, but he seems to fill Shadow's role.

So, my guess is that if Megaman is added, they MAY put Zero in as an assist trophy.

I think Sonic has a much higher chance than Snake. To be honest, four years ago, I didn't even know what Metal Gear Solid was. Sonic probably has a much larger fanbase.

You do realize the reason Sonic was in Brawl was becuase of Snake, right? Besides, what about Snake Eater on the 3DS that had the Yoshi dolls and the Yoshi ranking? I think that counts for something.

Are you familair with the therm 'anti-hero'? That's what Shadow is.

Zero and Shadow are similair in that they are second (sometimes even first) protagonists during the majority of their series (usually with a role equal role to the first protagonist as well).

I'm not particulary sure what point you are trying to get across. That Snake is 100% granted to be in the next Smash? It's okay if you want to think that and I respect your opinion, but I just happen to doubt it. I'd love for it to happen but I'm not sure about it.

First of all, the reason Sonic was in Brawl becuase he was voted for on the game's japanese website, becuase they wanted the fans to decide on another 3rd party character. If Snake wasn't in Brawl, that vote wouldn't have even happened in the first place, becuase the roster would have just been 1st and 2nd party. Second, I do have a point, and tons of logic to go with it. You say "Guest characters tend to stay in only one game of a series" and you have yet to realize that this is Super Smash Brothers, they already said they wanted to keep the existing roster and balance it, they have no reason what so ever to take Snake out of the game. Snake does have a 100% chance to return, becuase there's enough proof to back it up, and you doubting it is just ridiculous.

For a long time now, Nintendo's been doing a lot more third party things. I personally don't care if Snake and/or Sonic are in or not in. However I do think they both will return, along with adding Megaman and Lloyd (maybe) to the roster.

We can't compare or even speculate what Sakurai will do with these two characters (Snake and Sonic) because Brawl was his first developed game with playable 3rd party characters. We can't compare it to Soul Calibur, which removes their guest characters each game, or any other game because we haven't seen it done by Sakurai before. Honestly there's not really any point in even thinking about it more than three minutes.
