Here are some tips. I followed these and never was bothered.

1. Make friends with lots of people in your class.
2. Make friends with lots of upperclassmen.
3. Don't try and act all tough, as if you want to challenge everyone.
4. Don't be an idiot.
5. REALLY IMPORTANT: DON'T SLACK OFF FRESHMAN YEAR. YOU WILL REGRET IT, ESPECIALLY WITH REMEDIAL CLASSES IN 10TH GRADE.

Okay um, I don't know what grade you're in, but that's not very good advice.

Don't force yourself onto people. Or you'll just end up being 'that kid' that people are too nice to be mean to. Yeah make friends, but not by jumping into people's faces. And I wouldn't try making friends with upperclassmen unless the situation presented itself. Don't run up to them and expect them to be best friends. Honestly, just be who you are. You'll make friends.

Ok, here's the thing.

I never told him to force himself onto anyone, though I might have implied that the word "lots". What I meant was not to isolate yourself from the rest of the school, and that making friends is an "important" part of high school. I'm not saying be the guy who has 10 billion friends, but not to be a social oddball, siting alone, talking to no one.

About the whole "Don't try and act all tough, as if you want to challenge everyone" thing, I knew people who came in freshman year trying to make a tough-guy statement, and got their asses kicked and they were pretty much hated by everyone.

"Don't be an idiot" was pretty obvious. And I'm not talking about intellect or academics, I'm talking acting like you're still in middle school. Although you're surrounded by other freshmen who most likely still have a middle school mindset, other people tend to dislike that behavior.

Again, there are many 10th, 11th, and 12th graders who have to take extra classes because they failed them in the previous years. Slacking off is counterproductive to your growth in high school.

Well...I'm officially going to bed..for school!!!!!

I'm going back on September 7th for 8th grade (which, at my school and possibly/probably others, is the last year of Middle School). If it was anything like 7th grade, then I should be just fine.
