MG ALBUM LISTENALONGS

This week's album:
Discovery
Daft Punk
Image
French house / garage / disco

Discovery is the second studio album by French house duo Daft Punk, released on 3 March 2001, by Virgin Records. It marks a shift in the sound from Chicago house, which they were previously known for, to disco, post-disco, garage house, and synthpop-inspired house. The album later became the soundtrack of the anime film Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem, which was a collaboration between Daft Punk, Leiji Matsumoto, and Toei Animation. All of the music videos for the tracks on the album are segments of the film, which follows a story of a kidnapped extraterrestrial band.

Seeing as Plug.dj likely won't be here Monday due to their funding issues, it seems right to have one final listenalong to send them off. Stick with us after for resident anime lord Kyuubit's birthday bash, and come music with us one last time. You f***.

I have a load of free time so 8 PM would be convenient.

WOAH I LOVE THESE ALBUMS

Court of the Crimson King is definitely worth a relisten I'd totally do that with some other people.

This sounds awesome, but I'll probably end up missing it all the time because of work :/

I would really love to listen to OKC at some point with you guys, though.

I thinks it's my favorite Radiohead album now.

It took me awhile, but the songwriting is so unique, and it probably has some of the best mixing/mastering I've ever heard.

i'll miss almost all of these because of work unless we do them way later, but i realize that most people usually go to bed before 7am so it's fine

nah we probably won't listen to all of them lol

I'd like to come up with a way to make the albums we listen to more personal while also somehow making that fair, but one issue at a time. Until we get this thing figured out we'll just spin some classics

@Scott/Arel if you guys have any better suggestions I'd love to hear 'em, would like to find the best time possible

Also I'd be down with giving OK Computer another shot I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Make sure you listen with headphones and not speakers, it makes a huge difference.

Also Fridays at like 11:30 or midnight would work best for me personally.

I've only listened to OKC and Kid A but I didn't like Kid A at all.

OKC is great though watch for No Surprises, Karma Police, and Let Down

I was the complete opposite when I first started listening to Radiohead.

I still love Kid A, though.

I think all of their albums besides Pablo Honey and The Bends are fantastic, tbh.

I haven't listened to it in a long time, but I remember never being able to get into it.

Maybe later today.

I'm kinda revisiting their discog, atm.

The Wall is one of my all time fave albums and I personally prefer it to DSOTM. This same underground mentality applies to Metallica, I prefer Master of Puppets to Ride the Lightning. I'd love to revisit Master of Puppets actually, anyone else?

How do you guys feel about Bends for the first album? I've never listened and I want to get into more Radiohead.
