Didn't they recently got a boost, but for the Mars project, while ditching the Moon project and the spaceshuttle project?

Which seems strategically stupid too me, even though I am not fond of enormous spends on NASA (but I admit we can simply cut SETI first until we know more about the origin of life and such a search actually becomes fecund, while the other projects certainly have merit).

Obama has recently announced plans to cut their funding even further.
I am generally against cuts to most research, unless it can actually be proved that there's no reason to have it.
