BUT, then again, they did say that characters from Brawl may be cut. I'd cut Toon Link (isn't he already?) and replace him with Young Link or nothing at all. Snake may be cut, he doesn't fit in SSB. Wolf may be cut, I'm guessing.

Yeah that's true, but Sonic fits into Smash and Sega is cool with him returning. Also his new game is coming for WiiU and 3DS so it might be likely and unlikely at the same time.

Yes, but you gotta understand that there are a lot of third parties out there who would love to have their characters appear in Smash. I think you'd have to look moreso at Nintendo's stance on said characters as opposed to if the series' respective developers 'are cool with it'. Sonic is definetly on a class on his own in that regard, though, like Mega Man.

Why does everyone keep saying that? He's not going to be cut, because not only are Sakurai and Kojima great friends, but he also said he liked the inclusion of Snake (and Sonic) in Brawl.

He's not going to remove Snake just because he doesn't fit.

He's also not going to add characters into SSB4 "willy-nilly" and Metal Gear Solid isn't very substantial to Nintendo's history.

You took that quote completely out of context. He meant he's not going to add in new third party characters "Willy-nilly" because it would ruin the whole point of SSB consisting of Nintendo characters. He's saying he's not going to add every third party character to SSB that people request, it has nothing to do with Snake returning or not.

Snake was an invited character in brawl.Nintendo doesn't want to be monotonous with their brawl characters. Snake was an experiment for matching unusual 3rd party characters with the nintendo ones to see if they are compatible for a smash fighting game(hibrid between fighting and platform) They tried snake,and it was fun. But they need to find characters that match even better than snake in smash.You could like a lot more than snake the new ones.

Also,i don't see they puting the same 3rd party character in two series,cause remember,is a NINTENDO game

hideo kojima approached sakurai during melee development and asked if snake could be in, which he wanted because all of the metal gear games are too dark or inappropriate for a young child to play, which meant that hideo's son couldn't ever play any of the games he'd created, and he wanted a game he could play with his son that had snake in it. sakurai was fine with the idea but it was too late in the dev stage to be including new characters, so he was put into brawl instead.

The story as posted by Tid is indeed what circulates around the internet the most, and what is most commonly accepted as true. I don't know if they ever officionally gave out a confirmation of said story, but I personally never saw any reason to doubt it. It seems like a likely story, especially when one keeps Kojima's and Sakurai's friendship in mind.

No, it can't be proven. Anyone can only make educated guesses. When it boils down to it, nobody but sakurai and his team knows for sure what direction the roster will take.

A third-party character who has already been in a Smash Bros. game is not a "random" third-party character.
