this is just a down smash tier list, although i will be making a second list later for kill percentages
damages dealt

overall tiers

personally down smashes are some of the best kill moves in the game, but it's super embarrassing how many of my favourite characters have sub-par damages

additional notes:
i only checked for these two fighters, but mario and luigi have a sourspot hitbox dealing 11%, but i decided to keep the most damaging hitboxes, which is why marth is 17% rather than 15%, because of his tipper.
remember, these are uncharged smash attacks.

pretty sure Peach's is like, over 50% if all hits connect properly.

about 63% to be exact

Chibis Down Smash has a sweetspot right inside him that does insane knockback and 18 - 23% depending on charge.

i should've specified in the OP, but these percentages are based off uncharged smash attacks, it's not all too likely that you'll be fully charging down smashes.
and anyway, i can only land the first two hits, totalling to 25% damage.

if the opponent "crouch-cancels" the attack, it can do more hits than 2 and can deal up to 63% uncharged.

Pit should be like top 3 hit dsmash is probably the strongest or one of the strongest.

while pit's down smash does kill early uncharged, he's staying where he is on the current list . the current list is based off of damage percentages, and it's pretty low, even when fully charged.

i got it to 75% actually, but it doesn't make a difference. she's still S-tier

hey silver, how do you make these tier lists?

down smash can technically do more damage with his down smash. if they dont know about teching you can just do it again.

Black Mage has the worst down smash of this game, like by far, really. The worst.
You need strategy to know when to use Lloyd's and Ichigo's down smash, but black mage's is just useless
