Nuclear detonations can be controlled down to extremely small sizes, I have no idea why you would think a 6 mile radius is some kind of fallacy.

What was Hiroshima's destruction radius, again? Just from the blast, not the radiation or anything, wasn't it like 2-3 miles? I guess people just see that mushroom cloud and go OH s***, THAT MUST BE 150 MILES!

Alternatively, he could've meant "what the f*** do you mean 'only' six miles? That's a lot of miles to blow up!".

Hiroshima was about 3.2 km, that's blast radius. Most nuclear weapons aren't meant to have large blast radii anymore so it is possible that he meant "only 6 miles, that's big!" but I was unsure in the movie if they were referring to the blast being six miles or the fallout zone.

I think they were referring to the blast. I don't remember them mentioning anything about any fallout...
