Like the title says, put a limit on animations.
I am so sick and tired of having to load ridiculous animations which loop terribly/are of bad quality.
So I do believe there should be a limit to these animations.
But I don't mean just not allow animations altogether, just limit the amount of animations/frames so that loading pages doesn't have to be such a ridiculous long wait.
Yes, you can go and grab Adblock or whatever from Firefox and block them, but I don't think the rest of the forum should put up with this rubbish.

Here is an example of someone's sig which I have copied and pasted here for convenience
Example: show

if you can go through 10 pics then stop, then I owe you $10 (just kidding)

What you're saying should be true but don't mods and admins already PM/warn/ban people when they see that?
I was told to remove my MK9 scorpion sig because it was too bloody and that it had a huge amount of frames

They don't do s*** about avis and sigs unless it has profanities
I remember when there was a campaign to limit sig sizes (sigs back then were massive) and they would only ask nicely to remove the large images.

They probably don't bother saying anything about sigs because a) it contains no profanity or b) no slowdown occurs for them, both of which are understandable, but yes, I have to say I agree with this. If certain users are causing slowdown for us because of what is contained in their signature, it's not our job to go download Firefox (which I'm prevented from doing, anyways); it's their job to fix the issue. Although, I'll admit, I really don't get that much slowdown on this site. The two examples you provided caused no slowdown for me. Yet, that's only my computer--not everyone else's.

I get really bad internet sometimes and whenever I try to load a page I sometimes time out and the page does not load. Big animation signatures do no help in alleviating the problem.

And another thing, which I suspect would affect the Aussies more is the bandwidth cap from ISPs. Granted no ISP has a true unlimited plan and most "unlimited" caps are set quite high, for the Australians, this is a different matter. That or the dingoes be chewing on them cables.

Animations, I believe, cause more lag, apparently because of frames.

What definition of the word "lag" are you using?

The one used similar to "slower".

In other words:

Just wanted to be clear on that.

Yes they go slower because an animation is really a bunch of images which move.
Which means to load an animation you are downloading at least 10+ images, one for each frame

Also, yes, Thai is correct, Australians pay for a certain amount of GB's they can use on Internet. When they pass that limit they get "capped" which means they experience extremely slow speeds. The other plan is to pay for the extra memory they use (and it is extremely pricey)
