Guy, I'll tell you this now- being outspoken about your hobbies and interests isn't a good idea if you're afraid of other people's judgment! Someone's gonna get on your tail for it, and I'd hate to see you get all depressed 'cause somebody decided to be insensitive! Guardians and siblings aren't going to be any less forgiving in the matter- in fact, they'd probably be more vocal, if only for your concern.

The avenue you're tellin' us you want to travel down is long, treacherous and expensive in more ways than one! My earnest advice for you is to spend your time and money elsewhere, especially since this could be a passing thing- at your age, you might wake up one mornin' and say, "Man, what should I do with all these dumb worthless figures and posters of little girls??". There are other ways to decorate a room that would not be emotionally- or wallet-- compromising!

Why give a damn what other people think? Close friends and family maybe, but why care about it otherwise?

The other part I agree with, though. You never know if you'll outgrow it.

1. I don't have much close family aside from one or two I guess, and my close friends like anime and the such as well.
2. Yeah, I never know, but if I do, I can always re-sell it, right?

Get actual Blu-Rays and DVDs of the shows you like. Support the industry.

Room decs like posters and s*** can be gotten for free at cons, events and any magazine you happen to subscribe to, among other sources. G's Magazine comes with a free figurine most of the time as well as spreads, I got a free participation award poster at a con etc.

As for cosplay, well I can't say much about it, but I happen to airsoft occasionally so I can cosplay as a faceless soldier from Call of Duty or some other game if I felt so inclined to. I would advise against this unless you go to a lot of costume parties or have more than one use for the costume.

Well, cosplay is intended for use for whatever comes along, but nothing is really planned.

Personally I say get the figurines/posters/whatever else.

Dunno, cosplaying never really appealed to me :/

Books are complete robbery
I mean seriously, $30+ for something you're more than likely to read 3 times?
No way! IIRC, some larger libraries have manga so you can just get it there for free~

Eh, well manga is printed on cheaper paper
As well as less text, less ink etc
It's still absolute robbery!

I like having a personal library. I still re-read books I've acquired over the years including the old issues of White Dwarf I have.

That's Japanese manga

The reason English manga is slightly more expensive is due to the quality of the ink and pages being higher.

With Japanese manga, if you hold the page up to the light, you can see the other side.
