Someone ran a red light today and if another driver was also having a maniacal fit she could have died.
Watched Budd Dwyer taste the barrel of his gun and I just watched him slump over. There's no connection.
Random people dying is something I don't feel for since they're all just random blips that's impossible to feel attached to. Me dying is something I can accept 99% of the time since I've spent quite a few years thinking about it.

Good ol Budd Dwyer, I remember that one. The way he went about it really pissed me off though, no one needs to have that etched into their mind.

Personally I think this thread should just be locked, there isn't much more 'discussion' to be had.

Well everybody pack up

Resident expert Talent Show has decided that there are no possible branches to this conversation and we have adequately discussed the topic of death in seventeen posts

Excellent yes I see no reason to disagree

Please take a chill pill before you go on an insult frenzy out of a simple sentence.

don't you dare try that s*** with me. do you see how i've underlined that sentence? i want you to read it again. maybe three or four times, if needed. i didn't insult you. don't start with me.

on the actual topic: death is an inevitable part of existence, and while the fragility of life makes it easy to think that death is constantly around the corner (in many ways, it kind of is) i don't really think about it all that much. i'm more interested in how life is spent before then.

and if you honestly think about it, i don't really think death is the end of life or the ultimate or final point anyway. like, regardless of whether or not there's an "afterlife" or not, your existence is constant even after your body expires. like, the way you impact other people with the things you say and the decisions you make and the things you do, those things continue to live on, pretty much forever. we'll always remember important historical figures for the things they did and the words they said and they're immortalized that way. i'm not saying every single person is gonna change history or make history in some huge way, but even in a tiny bit, your existence is pretty much everlasting, even if it isn't physical. i'm tired and this post is really unorganized but i don't really care

on the topic of an afterlife: i've kind of hovered around a bunch of different beliefs and theories for the past decade or so and i can't really say if i know if there's gonna be a heaven or hell or not. i lean closer now to the idea that there is indeed a "heaven" but if it actually exists i don't think i could really fathom what it'd be like. if it exists, though, and if it is eternal like many religious contexts indicate, then death is far from "final".

tl;dr, the way you spend your life now is a lot more important than thinking about death. not worth obsessing over at all, in my opinion.

edit: Talent Show, requesting a lock is a warnable offense. just letting you know. don't do it lol. we'll take care of locking threads.

I would like there to be an afterlife but I'm an agnostic f*** so I'm afraid there isn't and that's very scary

Y'know, I've always kinda wished/hoped that when you die, you get reborn as the next born baby, and then Life repeats itself, you just won't know it.

But that's just me, Death honestly scares the living f*** out of me.

The idea of reincarnation is definitely an interesting one.

I lean more toward the idea of an afterlife, but it'd be pretty cool to experience life from so many different perspectives, even if you supposedly can't remember the past ones without "spiritual guidance."

The idea of reincarnation always interested me, who knows, maybe right now we are all a reincarnation of someone else.

Some useful advice for you guys,

Get used to your face in the mirror, it's the only one you'll ever see from you.
Death is something we can't even fathom. We know it is inevitable, yet we live everyday ignoring it.

I find all of that , including the human nature remarkable.

Haha no
It's inevitable, we can't do anything to fix that
there's no reason to be worried about something we can't avoid so it's better to just ignore it
if you want to live like a f*** emopeter fine just don't spread it please
