Curious if you guys are into older games and what franchises/games y'all are into.

My favorites at this point are Punch-Out, the old Mario games, Spyro, Crash, and Ristar. It's a weird mix but those are the games I'm into lately. Crash is pretty distant on the list and almost got left out because I haven't been in the mood for it, but it's still pretty good so I put it down. Any other ones you guys like?

wow, i didn't know RET was a prefix here lmao. PS1 doesn't even have its own

LoZ's always a fantastic game and gotta love the classic Mega Man games
ALttP is also great and is one of my favorite games
the classic SMT games are also pretty alright but damn have they aged badly.

Hmm depending on how retro i would have to say my favs are basically anything classic sega
Sega: show
sonic in general ( i can't stay mad at im)
Outrun (TY based sega for bringing it back)
Space harrier (one of my favs i finally beat it thanks to the 3DS version)
Virtual on (so much fun too bad every fight was easy)
PSO (i didn't get to play alot of it but i still love it)
Nights (probably the series you would hear me go on for hours about)
gunstar heroes (speedy fun)
shining force (one of my favorite sega series)
Jet set (i miss it so much)
gain ground (fun little time waster)
wonder boy (fun game series)
Kid chameleon (hard as s*** for me when i was younger never beat it)
Dynamite heady (cool game never got too far)
Golden axe (i have more memories with this series than streets of rage)
Vector man (the slugs in 2 always scared me as a kid)
Comix zone (cool game hard as f*** difficulty
Ristar (fun but i didn't like it so much for some reason)
Landstalker (f*** why didn't they just add f*** shadows)
(these are my all time favs if gamecube era isn't retro enough at this point)

only memories i really have with the playstation are megaman legends and crash bandicoot

nintendo: show
Megaman in general
super mario world (only classic 2D mario game i ever really liked)
earthbound (loved it so much and it made me smile alot)
castlevania:SotN (although i never finished it)
Kid icarus (original) ( f*** this game i love it but f*** this game)
ice climber (first game i ever played)
kirby superstar (its like the best for a reason)
super mario RPG (loved this game so much but than i lost my save at the pirate ship and never went back)
harvest moon (how do i play this game i literally just ran around talking to people and role playing in it as a kid)
Star fox 64 (get this guy off me)
super metroid (Finally beat it man i was so lost)
ghouls n' ghosts (fun but hard as f***)
legend of zelda: link's awakening (only zelda game i ever truly enjoyed except ALBW)

i think legends is really overrated

legends was more because 3D megaman holy s*** WOW. and also just an all around good concept of an open world megaman adventure game

2 is definitely a step up but with the early PS1 controller there wasn't much to be done controls wise. but just about all old third person games had a wonky a** way for you to turn the camera.

I didn't play video games until I was 12, so I didn't do much retro gaming but BUYING THE GAMES let me play the gems that are A Link To the Past, Star Fox 64, and Mega Man X.

The early Sonic the Hedgehog games, and Vectorman.

Oh, and I guess I'll mention Kirby's Adventure, and Bubble Bobble.

Symphony of the Night is one of my favorite games ever so that's probably my favorite.
LttP is top tier zelda.
Super Metroid is one of the best designed games like ever.

i think my favourite 'retro' game ever is probably the first castlevania. shortish game but so extremely fine tuned and well designed, consistently hard and with a perfect difficulty/learning curve.
i like super metroid more but it's kind of an unfair comparison, and super metroid doesn't really feel or look that much like a retro game, in my opinion.

my joke answer to this thread was going to be 'metroid prime trilogy' but then i had an actual answer to post so here we are.
