Tbh I'm still having trouble believing this is even real. It's so shameless. Why's it called "squid war", when there are no squids?? It doesn't make any sense. It even uses the phrase "turf war" in the description. The map is clearly based on Arowana Mall. What the hell. What the f*** is going on how did this get greenlit

It's a pretty clever marketing stragety.
They are showing the possbilities of the platform by recreating/ripping off another popular game aimed at the same target audience. It's not like they are making a pretty big deal out of it it's more like "hey you know that other game you kids like, you can recreate that in Disney Infinity here check it out'.
I personally don't care much for it myself though.

It doesn't even look fun. I'll forgive that their engine won't let it do all the detailed stuff that Splatoon could do, like ink trails and squidding and such, but then there's stuff like the godawful targeting, the fact that some tiles got shot point blank and didn't change their color, the worst damn sound design I have ever heard for a paint gun, and GITCHY GITCHY GOO doesn't even fit the tempo of the game.
Without Disney star power, this would be on the same level as a Roblox mod.
