I'm still up for predicting Darkrai. Again, one of the few Pokemon to be shown as evil. He'd also make a great Glass Cannon character like in the main games. In terms of evil feats he's done:

Traps a kid in a nightmare *Sinnoh games*
Traps you in a nightmare for his event (and makes a disturbing illusion person) *Platinum*.
Was the true villain in the Mystery Dungeon Explorer games and went as far as to screw up time (thus making Primal Dialga) and attempt the same with space just to create an everlasting darkness for him to rule. He was also responsible for making you into a Pokemon.
Was heavily hinted to have killed the ghost girl in Black 2/White 2 (the guide book stated the girl died in her sleep) because the Lunar Wing (Cresselia) didn't make it in time.
Outside of the "Rise of Darkrai" movie and being owned by a character, it uses its power multiple times in the anime to troll the main crew.
Pokemon Special (Adventures) tells that its ability can be lethal if the person doesn't wake up in time and works even if it's in a Pokeball.

So yeah, good example of an evil Pokemon that would be nice to play as.

I could have sworn this was stated multiple times a while back. Maybe I was thinking wrong. Nonetheless, I still don't see Pokemon Trainer making it since Charizard is a PokeBall character along with Blastoise and Venusaur, but I could be wrong.

If Pokémon trainer got in, he'd only have like 16 sprites, being a background character. A set of all seven trainers wouldn't be TOO unreasonable.

I'll say this much, after Pac-Man, I personally don't exactly want to rule out Charizard and Pichu out just yet...

Also, as others have said: We DO have multiple PKMN Trainers across the series so far. Heck, even if Red/Blue/Leaf were SSF2's PKMN Trainer, do the Gen. 1 PKMN HAVE to be Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard?

Well I'm pretty sure that previously when SSF2 was in like 0.6 or so it wasn't possible. Back when Steven had his skype open up for everyone.

I see that McLeodGaming logo and it made me think
If any MG character got into SSF2 despite all the rules
I'd say YeahJamFury are the definitive MG rep, imho
They'd either function as a :zelda: / :sheik: where you switch between the 3 with their own whole movesets
Or they'd function like Duck Hunt where they all travel together and just sorta sit back/react as whoever feels like it does the attacking
A fun mockup of some of their moves if they traveled together: show
Yeah takes the lead, Jam follows behind Yeah and Fury stands beside them (In sprite form, he would be between the two and behind them, think of the M&L: Paper Jam costume from Super Mario Maker), they all travel together, this includes jumping, rolling and even getting launched

Gimmick: Blocks
Yeah has 3 blocks in his "storage", meaning he can only have 3 out at a time before the trio has to destroy one or more of them in order to use any more
These blocks can be used as small, solid platforms for anyone, but can't be utilized as ledges
They can be broken when taken enough damage, but any move that Fury's involved in breaks them instantly if he hits the block

Jab has all 3 taking turns jabbing
- - -
All the Tilts and the Dash Attack are Jam's specialty
- - -
All the Smash Attacks are Fury's job, meaning they all break blocks;
FSmash: Think of :captainfalcon:'s Falcon Punch, but weaker, Jam watches whilst Yeah gets out of the way
USmash: Headbutt of Manlyness, Yeah and Jam duck to protect themselves
DSmash: Stamps the ground and causes a shockwave, Yeah and Jam get bounced up as a comedic touch

Specials utilize everyone
NSpecial: Yeah charges his magical little antennae things by holding down the Special button, you can aim in the 8 compass directions, the longer you charge, the farther the projectile travels. When the Projectile either reaches it's destination or hits someone, it stops in its tracks and a Block is formed
SSpecial: Jam utilizes his hammer to fling the trio, their bodies become hitboxes
USpecial: Yeah, Jam and Fury become a human chain and Fury whiplashes Jam and Yeah diagonally upward towards the ledge, where Yeah can grab it if he's close, it's possible to break blocks this way
DSpecial: Fury stomps angrily, this causes an effect similar to :donkeykong:'s Hand Slap and breaks any blocks in a nearby circular radius if used on the ground, burys grounded opponents and soft-spikes airborne foes

All Aerials are Yeah's duty

IDK what else to put

I might make a few concept sprites and a few alt. colors for the trio when I feel like it, IDK :chibirobo:

I think Charizard was in the Dev Blog about Pokemon (correct me if I'm wrong), and they JUST announced that Pichu would be a Pokemon, with a complete attack and everything a regular Pokemon in Smash Bros. would get.

If the upcoming version was like v0.7 or something, that might be plausible. But since this is Beta we're talking about, I don't think this is very likely (unless they're plannning to trick us. :o )

Or be an actual character who uses Pokemon gear as opposed to actual Pokemon.

Really, Pikachu, Jiglypuff, and Mewtwo are the only Pokemon who have a shot here (and maybe Lucario).

Since Beta will be the version BEFORE the final version, I think all of the unlockable content will be stored for the finished product (aside from Sandbag).

As such, the unlockable characters I have in mind are as follows:
