The patch might come out tomorrow. It so, I can wait til' then.
But I am curious. What might the patch fix up other than online issues? And will some characters and specials get nerfed as well? (Mah Link better not be low-tier againz... but that boomerang seriously needs nerf.)

I think both.

As a Sora main I'm still hoping for his flow motion range to be shortened.

As a Sonic main, i hope that his spring goes a bit higher distance, having voice clips and attacking and dodging after using light dash attack.

DK has too much super armor and his Neutral B is way too OP (20% kills, really?
ZZS' Foward Smash is OP
Ichigo's Side B is cheap and very annoying to deal with.
All of Naruto's Specials are just OP
Sora's Side B (Do I even need to go there?)
Link's Boomerang (I wish it was like Project M's)
Every Spike is OP
Throwing Physics
Online
And many more issues.

DK's pretty crazy powerful to be honest
donkey punch has more KO power than falcon punch by a mile. the issue with this is that the falcon punch can't have its charge held; donkey punch can be used when it's necessary

if you get KO'd, use it out of respawn. invincibility lasts long enough. get a bit of damage on your opponent, donkey punch, wind it up again and KO them again. rinse and repeat.
