Something makes me think that he missed Karin's vital spots without actually trying to spare her life.

Call me crazy, but I also think he's down to only his Tsukuyomi-like Genjutsu, seeing as only his left Mangekyo eye appears to be functioning. Seeing as the right one is neccessary for Amaterasu, and both appear to be required for Susano'o.

It would also explain why he used Chidori Spear/Lance over Amaterasu to wound/kill Danzo.

Ugh, they did that s*** thing how they reveal the dying person's sad memories before they die.

I didn't know Danzo and Hiruzen were friends, so his death was sadder.
