I also like how people compare the work of one 18-year-old man with limited graphic resources working on and off for 2 years to a group of people run by a 26-year-old man steadily for 6 years.

But at any rate, I think it's too early to gauge potential in this engine.

It's the other way around.

Whoops, over shot Cleod's age by 6. But still, 2 years is a fair age gap.

This game is version 0.6, and Runouw's game hasn't even hit the alpha stages yet. Runouw's taking his time with the new engine, because he realized with the old one that rushing does not a good product make.

You're not the brightest bulb. This is an outdated version of the current engine Runouw's working on.

This is his most current update. Of course, there's work to be done, but based on the fact that it took him less than a month to make this newer version, I'd say it's outstanding.

Actually, SSF2's engine's pretty dodgy in many regards.

Precisely. Both engines are obviously still under heavy construction. It's hard to judge quality from a build this early on, but both have the potential to be great.

Runouw is two people.. They're twins.

And SSF2 (was) being coded by one person, while SSBE is being coded by two.

The only difference is the amount of spriters.

Really? Huh, I thought Rob (one of the twins) was handling most of the work, with the other brother stopping by occasionally. I only ever really hear one name mentioned most of the time.

But now McLeod's got a reasonable-sized dev team, and with Runouw, it's still just the twins and the on-and-off work of the tSR folks.
