Do you always have to do certain habits in certain games?

If I'm at the final boss, I would stop playing the game and wait about a month to go back to it.
Or in RPGs I will get ever item max out.

Currently Playing: A lot of Nintendo games as if there's no end.
I have the cruel habit of reading the electronic manuals of the new games I start. I also pretend I don't know certain complex controls and wait for something or someone within to aknowledge me of the existence of said command (like if I was new to the game). This mostly applies to more complicated actions, like the jumping techniques in the Mario games or the sword attacks in The Legend of Zelda.

is mega man a hard game

i wouldn't so much call it a "habit" as much as a knack but i can often tell who my main is in a game with many characters before i even play. i can often tell the difference between someone i want to main and someone i will main.

before Brawl came out, i was hyped for Pit and Ike despite not having the slightest clue as to who they were. i was hyped for Sonic but he didn't feel right.
i'm excited for Robin in SSB4 and i'm definitely going to be able to main him. i was also hyped for Greninja, Palutena, and mega man but they're not giving me that 'vibe'
when i read the TVC manual Yatterman-1 caught my eye for no real reason. i liked his design somehow (despite it being really goofy and awkward) and he became my main. i hadn't the slightest clue who he was when i knew Mega Man Volnutt, Viewtiful Joe and others on the Capcom side.
in Persona 4 Arena, i had the vibe with Yu, Yosuke, and Akihiko. i did want to main Shabrys and Aigis. didn't work out so well. Yu, Yosuke, and Aki on the other hand...
in BlazBlue, i liked Jin, Ragna, and Noel. but everyone likes these three so that's less of an achievement
in MvC3 i mained nobody and nobody gave me that vibe how funny is that
Ryougi always looked great to me in Melty Blood Actress Again and always interested me. then she became my main.

making extra challenges can add more fun to a game if you're into that kind of thing.

Yes, but there's a difference between something like a Zelda three heart challenge and

Pretending you don't know how to do something until the game tells you how to do it

Yeah I'll agree that's pretty pointless.
