Evelyn waited for him to finish his sentence with relish, she was just waiting for the perfect excuse to teach the kid some respect, but he seemed to remember at that instant that they actually had a duty to accomplish and went to dispatch the ghosts with the iron sword. "Tch" she sneered in his direction as the ghosts disappeared. She landed on the ground lightly, clearly not amused with Carter, but glad it was over.
"Well, that weren't so bad." said Logan with a chuckle as his ethereal armaments dissipated.
"I still like my rock," stated Carter "Hey, I think we should celebrate this fine moment," and he pulled out a strange vial filled with a liquid stating that a friend gave it to him and that it was some sort of syrup that changed its chemicals.
Evelyn grimaced and raised her hand in disgust "Keep your poisons to yourself" she said while walking away from the two of them, heading towards Adi and Basil to hear how they did in regards to the assessment.

Logan was disheartened by Evelyn's deficiency of tact. She quite clearly had an air of superiority. It probably wouldn't be easy to get along with her, but that didn't mean the headstrong junior wouldn't try. In any case, he decided to humor Carter. "Let me get a sip o' that." He said, downing a shot of the liquid. He immediately retched. Obviously the stuff didn't feel like being particularly flavorful at the moment. With unpleasantries out of the way, Logan followed Evelyn's example an reported back to Adi.

"It takes some getting used to... Well, back to Adi to see how we did. Hey, don't you think Evelyn acts too much like a scolding mother? I mean, she's just... really... Y'know." Carter said as they were going to Adi.

"Nay," Logan responded with a shake of his head. "Less like a scolding mother an more like a pompous lass." He paused. "Though I cannae really say that I blame her. Yer performance back there was... problematic. An' yer understanding o' spirits is preliminary at best. Ye'll do well tae learn quickly." Finally, all three stood before Adi, ready for assessment.

Grinning after enjoying the banter among the group as they dispatched the spirits, Basil hopped in on their conversation as they approached Adi. "Evelyn is far too haughty for her own good." He began as he walked toward the trio. "Carter, you are naive and uncouth, and you Logan, are as headstrong as a wild boar." He was visibly excited as it was not often that he used his observations of people when confronting them. If anything positive came from his position it was the ability to apply his critical nature. "These traits are all negative and have an impact on your performance. A well adjusted artes user would be able to discard their negative traits so that they would not impede the task at hand. I would fail you, but I am but an observer and will leave the results to my underling's opinions and desires."

Adi watched the fight carefully. The inexperienced but quickly adapting Gram and the haughty but experienced St. Augustine were the most obvious problems. Teamwork was definitely not something this hastily formed group had. That could change but there were other points he wanted to touch on though senior Petran got the first word in. He didn't mince words and neither would Adi.
"I agree with senior Petran that you have failed as a team."
He looked at the alchemist.
"Junior Gram, you are adaptable but lacking in experience and knowledge. Experience will come in time and knowledge can be taught. Your abilities seem to be where they should at this point in time. With continued practice you should be able to master your Arte. Two more things, do not talk back to superiors in the midst of battle and do not imbibe suspicious liquids on school grounds. The former you can do once you've become self-reliant in battle, the latter when school regulations permit it."
Adi shifted his gaze to the spirited girl next.
"Junior St. Augustine, I must commend you for your quick thinking. However do not let the fact that you know more than the others get to your head. This, in addition to taking the time to antagonise team mates in the middle of battle, will get you and your team mates killed. You need work on your cooperative aspect. Your power is quite developed as befitting of someone of your background though I do know explicitly what your Artes entails so I'll leave it at that for now. That is all."
At last it was Douglas' turn.
"You have improved from last year junior Douglas but a few comments if I may. Firstly, as the senior on the team, I expect you to not panic and call for help when outnumbered especially with the skill set you have. It is true that it was junior St. Augustine's fault and that you could not fully trust the other two but I wish you showed a little more backbone. Secondly, you are still lacking in hand to hand combat even though it should be your forte as not once did I see you attack with your weapon. Speak to me later about further hand to hand combat training. Finally, don't drink something you cannot imagine the taste of, I take it you found it very unpleasant. I'm also hoping to see some leadership this year."
He turned back towards the club co-president.
"That concludes my assessment senior Petran. I recommend the three continue training as a team. Douglas should be able to rein in the junior St. Augustine with his seniority and discipline, St. Augustine should be able to teach Gram with the knowledge she has and Gram's strength in adversity should provide Douglas with some inspiration. I am quite certain that they would be able to pass the next assessment as a team. If not, well, at least we will still have some Artes users to handle small jobs or fetch donuts. I will submit a written report to the Doctor as well as yourself and senior Pearson by tomorrow."
Facing the trio once again.
"You are dismissed."

Johnathan, proudly taking the assignment, walks over to Li. As he begins drawing it, he got that same feeling he got when he first did Veritas. That natural feeling. But, it wasn't the same as drawing on a person though. Still, it was pretty easy. When he finished up, he faces Li. "Hmm, you were thinking of the color blue weren't you?" He had to admit, this sigil was pretty amazing. He could just imagine what he could do with it.

The colour that Johnathan guessed was correct, and Li was impressed. "That is correct Johnathan. It seems we have found your arte". He looked over to Alice with a grin on his face, partly because Johnathan's ability and partly because of Alice's intuition. Unsure what sigil to tell him to draw next, Li looked over to Alice for the next step in the lesson.

"You dismissed." The words rang in Carter's ear for more than it should have. He turned to Evelyn, quickly grabbing her shoulder before she walked away, "I'm sorry about what I did back there, I just don't like being put down, or anyone being put down, for that matter, I'm sorry for not knowing about ghosts, as I do not spend my time on such things, I prefer to learn about what reactions certain properties have against certain chemicals and particals and all that." Carter paused for a second and said one last thing before he went back to his dorm. "If you still don't like me, I get it, but please know that I'm not usually like this."

Logan took Adi's criticism with his head up. He wouldn't let anything put a damper on his chipper attitude. At least, that was the impression he liked to give. Inside, the junior was a bit flustered. It wasn't his fault he had been pitted alone against three knights, all armed with superior weaponry, nor could he be blamed for the fact that his "weapon", as Adi so generously called it, was roughly the length of a twig. A relatively long twig, perhaps. He wished he could get his hands on something more suitable for combat, something like a claymore. Now that was a real Scot's weapon. Adi was right, though, of course. Logan's combat skills were far from honed. It's not like he could just walk up to someone and ask someone to train him how to wield a magical ghost sword- or dirk, as the case may be. Under Adi's instruction, though, he would likely improve in no time. That didn't make the thought any less unappealing, though. He remained silent after he and the others had been dismissed. He had a lot to think about. Being part of the Darren Archive Club would be a large responsibility, and he would be expected to improve himself both physically and mentally. What's more, he would be expected to keep Evelyn's attitude in check. That wasn't going to be any walk in the park. However, what Logan was really worried about about was the co-president, Basil. The way he had stood back and observed while they fought, then delivered his verdict with what had appeared to be enjoyment. He had almost seemed to revel in it. It simply made the junior uneasy. Or maybe it was just his goatee. In any case, Logan decided to meet up with Adi after the meet. The sooner he got to training, the better.

((So... Miss Rachel is a crazy telepath that knows everything. That's scarier than any monster. Unless said monster is also a crazy telepath that knows everything.))
August was far too busy trying to figure out how the woman had known he had been smoking to pay much attention to the monologue she had launched into shortly after their brief introduction. Admittedly, in his curiosity to find out about the enigmatic invitation he had forgotten to take any Sen-Sen or wash his hands, but it had been a good forty minutes since the cigarette had last touched his lips; the smell should have been mostly gone. Unless she had the nose of a bloodhound, she should not have been able to tell, especially not from several feet away.
It wasn’t that he particularly cared whether people knew that he smoked or not. No, what concerned him was that she had found out without his consent. This unnerved him more than any half-heard rambling about spirits and ghosts. August was still preoccupied when an armored, translucent being appeared in front of him, seemingly out of nowhere. He jumped back a few inches, surprised. He was quick to recover, however, and began to laugh as Miss Rachel introduced the spectre, obviously a holographic projection of some sort, as if he were a real person. He was in stitches by the time she finished telling him about his supposed elemental powers, insisting that he learn to control them. The worst part was that she seemed absolutely serious about the whole thing. It was all he could do to control himself enough to answer her when she asked if he had questions. Gasping for breath, he managed to squeeze out, “Ok, Lady. You,” he wheezed, “you got me. Where’s the camera?”

Johnathan sensed that Li didn't know what to do next. Maybe the sigil was still working. So, he decided to take a turn at the steering wheel. He walks over to the book and flips to a random page. "How about we do one more, and we stop for the day? No need to rush."
The next sigil was Muto and Johnathan read the description aloud, "Sigil of change: Sigil that changes the appearance of what it has been placed upon. Transform." This sigil was great too. He grabs another piece of paper and a pencil and starts to draw Muto. A few minutes later, which took the same amount of time to draw as Veritas, he was finished. His eyes widened as he saw the piece of paper change into...a rock. He then turns to Alice and Li. "Anyone want their appearance changed?"

(muto only changes the appearance of objects, as far as the description says) While Alice was pretty sure she was correct when she guessed Johnathon's Arte, it was still surprising to see him nail it with one try. "Excellent work-" She began, but her words of praise were cut short by the freshman deciding to try out a random sigil. Even though letting a newcomer flip through a book of dangerous magic wasn't exactly responsible, the girl was too caught up in the excitement of watching her junior make progress to stop him from testing something like Muto. Once again he managed to pull it off. Alice was forced to return to her calm demeanor to wipe the childish grin off her face. "Anyone want their appearance changed?" He said. "Beginner's luck!" She said jovially. "But seriously, you should be more careful! Some of these are extremely dangerous. Worst case scenario you'd pick Fragor and blow yourself up." Upon closer inspection, she noticed that the rock was actually pretty disfigured and covered with odd protrusions. "... Maybe you should practice a little more before trying that on people," she said, unable to hold back her laughter. Luckily, it was easy to find a sheet of reference papers for each sigil, which included detailed diagrams of how to draw them. "Study these carefully! If you let the non-Omnivident students see them they'll think you worship the devil or something, so hiding them would be a great idea." After handing the notes to Johnathon, she turned to Li. "There were supposed to be a few more students here today. I'm not sure what happened to them, but we might have to wait down here in case they show up."
