I'm still a little confused as to why Ichigo's Getsuga Tenshou got changed to be more defensive, especially since it's slow enough that it can be easily reflected with a timed shield.

Him well his up special was also turned into a defensive weapon. However, the GT can be used to gain stage control and help Ichigo's recovery. _________________

I know he does, which is great considering how bad he is at recovering. What I'm wishing is that his GT can be charged for more power and speed, but loses that ability to help gain stage control, but that's just me. _________________SSF2 Mains: ,

Well Ichigo's playstyle is very offensive GT somewhat balances it out with defense if not balance then atleast it gives him a defensive option

Up-special is a niche defensive option: it's useful in an extremely specific situation because of how punishable it is: opponent directly above you coming down with an option that won't beat it.
Utilt is an offensive move too: it combos, is a useful approach, can set up edgeguarding, etc.
