A human child.... I have a little brother, three neices, and a nephew. I coulden't bear to lose any of them...
So I can't imagine anyones pain if they lost a child, I dislike making people unhappy.

In all seriousness, I think this question is unanswerable without actually being put in such a situation. What's more, there are too many variables. As Soulful said, a human could end up benefiting society, but they could also end up contributing to its downfall. However, if I had to make a choice right now, I'd probably save the human, especially considering the animal would probably not be capable of gratitude. At least, I don't think it would. But ever since Billy Mays died, I'm not sure of anything anymore.

That's a BS reason. People care just as much, in some cases more, for an animal than a child. Think of the little old lady, all she has in her life is her dog/cat. She cares for that thing like a child, and probably more so because it's all she has left. _________________
