Certainly feel free to if you're interested, but critical acclaim for this kind of game rarely has much value. Game journalists love to take this kind of big budget game with big graphics and "mature" storytelling and raise it up as if it's the best the medium has to offer, regardless of how the game might actually play. If the only reason you're looking at this is because it's getting good scores, give it a few weeks at least to sit with you. Maybe borrow or rent it instead

Yeah I am at least a little aware about that; I noted "Breath of the Wild esque" acclaim in particular as it tells me that it's just yet another massive 3D open world thing, which like you say always gets put on a pedestal. Thanks for the reminder regardless Although I'm likely gonna play it anyway coz when I said "hook up with my friend" I meant that he'll probably get the game and will ask me to play through with him sooner or later. That's how I've experienced all these new games (Persona 5 and Mario Odyssey in particular) as I already snapped my wallet in half getting a good laptop, and I'm hella grateful that he invites me to play with him
