I liked Pit's game so I mained him and I am still trying to get good with him I didn't care for his tier role even though I realize he is far from good it makes all the more fun imo.

Well pit is good you just have to know how to use him. He is high tier on Japan's tier list.

Lucina I agree with yoh you can't just main a character because they are high tier.

marth has always had this grace in his play that i've always wanted to learn but never have. watching m2k/PPU in melee and mr.r in brawl is always so nice - they always seem to know where their aerials reach and when they can and can't tipper.

but yeah don't main chars just because of tier list position , give the lower tiers some love.

You're giving reasons why you shouldn't main a character because of their tier, not reasons why you can't main a character because of their tier.

There's no reason why you can't main a character because of their tier. You'll just have to accept being called a f***** by certain members of the community.

I mained Ice Climbers before I knew they were S Tier. Nostalgia makes me like them. Not all people who play top tiers are Tier Hoppers.
In fact I thought they were bottom tier at first because all of my Smash Bros playing friends told me they were. They also told me Link and DK were top tier soooooooo

yeah, that should be stressed actually. play whatever character you want and basically don't give a f*** what other people think. no one will s*** on you if you main ganon, people will just be sympathetic when you never win evo - but it certainly doesn't mean you'll never win against anyone good, and certainly doesn't mean you'll never have fun playing the game.

if you want to play a top tier, go ahead. i personally play ZSS, who's A-tier, but not because i want to win tournaments or anything, it's because i really like how her moves work as a character, and the uniqueness of starting with 3 items that are extremly powerful but hard to use properly.

also ice climbers are only S tier because of their chain grabs and desyncs, if you don't use and abuse those specific techniques they're honestly probably like B or C tier at best because of their great utilt and uair and very decent recovery. the only reason people think they're gay or whatever is because they can do many combos into grabs or just shield grab many moves, and each grab converts into a 0-death in the hands of a capable player.

I main Yoshi because he is my favorite Mario character, even though he now has a series of his own I still consider him a Mario character along with Wario because they first appeared and still appear in Mario games. I will main Yoshi regardless of how bad he is. Even though this is before I found out he was like low tier in Melee and Brawl, but even after I found out I tried to improve with him to show he was really good and not to be underestimated.

I started using Diddy Kong when I started playing Brawl with my friends when the year started because I played Donkey Country last christmas. I went online to see if I can learn some techniques I could use with him to find out at the time he was 2nd on the tier list. I was shocked to find out that Diddy was the second best character by tier list standings at the time. However, even if he was top tier I still got raped because I didn't know how to use him properly and I still don't know how today. Although I have gotten better with him.

I main Sonic because I guess I consider him my favorite video game character even though he not that good and has problems being able to kill his opponents I still used him regardless.

Yeah I know. They have their mechanics. I'm still learning them to be honest so I'm pretty much playing C Tier Icies anyway.

but if you wanna go comp then you need to learn the chaingrab and stuff, but dont worry about that!
